2020 Books Thread.
1. Troublemaker by Leah Remini. Ben and I listened to it on a road trip (celebrity memories and road trips is one of our things). Super fascinating and entertaining. Particularly for this Clearwater girl.
8. Almost Sister by Joshilyn Jackson. I always love having a good southern story read to me. I loved this one, and even though it seemed like a long set up, the ending was perfect.
4. Blindspot: The Hidden Biases of Good People by Mahzarin R. Banaji. I read this one with other members of a Diversity and Inclusion committee we serve on. It was interesting to use science to explore biases and taking some of the implicit bias tests were very enlightening.
5. Archenemies by Marissa Meyer. This is book two in a series about a world in which superheroes rule and our heroine isn’t necessarily on their side. I listened to this one because Rebecca Soler reading Marissa Meyer is my favorite. I am excited to see how this one ends.
2. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood. The long-awaited follow-up to The Handmaid’s Tale. I definitely recommend the audio (Aunt Lydia is Aunt Lydia) if you haven’t picked this one up yet. I am not sure about the reasons behind a few plot points but overall I loved this book.
3. The Assassins Blade by Sarah J. Mass. This book gathers the Throne of Glass prequels together. I liked learning more about Celaena’s early days. My takeaway: she’s very easy to trick. Looking forward to jumping into Book 4 soon.
6. Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin. This one was fine. I was annoyed by the mistaken identity storyline that went on far too long and some of the extreme characters. But still cute at times.
7. The Bride Test by Helen Hoang. I wasn’t sure about a follow up to The Kiss Quotient but I LOVED Esme and Khai. These are such great romances, and the focus on autistic characters adds so much to them. Looking forward to the next one.
I’m giving up on this thread. All of my books are in a highlight in instagram if you’re curious.
