a thread of my favorite lyrics off the sailor album. GO AND STREAM THE SAILOR FOR A BOOST OF CONFIDENCE!!!
1. the sailor: best way to start it. I love the social smoker/ person metaphor bc it paints an image of him being exposed to a group of friends in a social gathering hence social smoker. also, him talking about when he’s putting out music shows the pressure as an artist.
2. rapapapa: a self-booster song feeling like you’re the shit. I love the line from “if you still comfortable...you ain’t made it yet.” bc people like to stay stable and not feeling the bumps. RZA’s line is slept on! He used brian to say he’s breaking the boundaries for music.
3. yellow: every line to the song is hard to choose for me. I love bitch hello monologue bc people would throw Asians to the side from being weird and called yellow especially in media. He’s shows not only how he’s felt, but every Asian person’s felt. Bēkon’s lyrics is slept on!
continue: I already explained why Bēkon’s lyrics is special to me on a rant, while I’ll retweet it after making this.
4. kids: another hard lyric to choose and my fav song from the album. When he brought up the music industry, i felt that many artists want to get fame by making bad music and he miss the fun side of making music as he described. I almost cried when Brian shouts out Sean.
5. drive safe: a song I cried to. brian is painting an image of him looking at construction and felt like his life is going slow and left out. It’s something I feel especially when I feel sad. Polaroid photos looking like a movie scene line hits me the most bc it reminds of me of
continue: my grandma bc my best friend has a printer that prints like a Polaroid, so I print out two photos of my grandma. She passed away close to a year ago, so this song is special to me. Trying not to be sad rn, let’s move on to the next song.
6. confetti: i feel powerful when I hear this song. I see a drake reference when he say “got my right hand with me.” He used it as people trusting his fate. Your dreams turns into excuses, bitch line is pure genius bc I know people who just talk and don’t do anything about it.
7. vacant: second most underrated song in my opinion! He used Kleenex as a metaphor for him trying to give support to his gf at that time, but she feels incesure. So, she doesn’t talk about the good moments of their relationship and thinks he’s evil just like her past ex bf(s).
8. no worries: the MOST underrated song! The first verse is what I’m want to feel. Till this day, I’m grateful for everything that’s given to me. Always been a different breed line line hits different for me bc people wanted me to be like them, but I know myself and what I want.
9. 100 degrees: fun song to jam to in the summer or anytime in the season. He wants to have an image that you’re having fun with one or a group of friends feeling we’re rulers in a city. Also, pre-chorus has a cute visual for living in the moment and not caring about the past.
10. slow down turbo: so mind-blown every time I hear this song. The way he described how he feel through the ups and downs described me in 2019. My fav verse in this song. Also, love the reference to a throwback video when he teach us how to microwave bread. So iconic!
11. curious: brian needs make more songs like this tbh. How ironic when he says nachos was Italian food bc I legit used to think of that also. I love how he shouts out the people who are/feel different from others who’s not afraid to do anything outside of the box.
12. where does the time go: it’s a bit deep af. I wish this song was released in 2017, so that song reminds me that you’re a waste of my energy. It’s legit my motto in life. I relate to the second verse bc there are some part of me want to be better, but I need to relax bc...
continue: I worked too hard for putting others first before taking care of myself.
That was it! I put in all of my mentally into this work. I highly doubt that brian isn’t going to see this, but going to tag him just bc I love him and the album so dearly! If brian see this, I hope you know that me and everyone else has impacted by your album and I’m so proud...
