okay here’s my honest transparent advice on how to get good grades when you have severe adhd and you’re not medicated

keep in mind i’m in university
for full disclosure, i nearly failed math even with medication. i graduated HS w an IB diploma and 90/100. and yes i get distracted A LOT and executive dysfunction kicks my ass daily.
the first thing i do is something that’s looked down on us a lot— i multitask. if i give my full attention to a class that doesn’t catch my interest, i can’t work. i usually do stuff that allows me to pay attention while i’m doing it, while keeping my brain busy
for me this means bullet journaling, drawing (i’m an art major), sometimes tweeting but not scrolling thru the tl, reading a book on my laptop....
i guess it depends on what you can do during class and the teacher! in lectures i pay attention, but cant take notes (i was able to when i was medicated) and class participation is key, show the teacher you care
i was asked a lot about executive dysfunction... and i’ll admit, i suffer@from it, a lot.
like i think “i have time” and get distracted and a 1 hour task turns into 7. i cannot physically sit down and do homework. so i end up doing stuff that k know womt@take me that long and then do the time consuming thing; and k know that’ll take me 7 hours
i think what helps me most is being an ib graduate, it gave me a lot of perspective. i’m not telling you to take the IB bc why’d i ever advise suffering upon you, but their method works, essays come easier, and you look at everything different.
this turned into an ad.
