A thread of my books read in 2020
Book 1 of 2020
Before The Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Weird, cute, and unusual, this was a very enjoyable read with themes of family, memory, regret, and was a lot of fun
Book 2 of 2020
Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️And a half
An astonishingly intense, emotion, and fast paced thriller about a school shooting in Somerset. Rare to find this about the UK. Very grounded in real life events. Gripping and well written
Book 3 of 2020
Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Will break your heart and put it back together again, beautifully written story of a sole plane crash survivor. A new favourite
Book 4 of 2020
Foul Is Fair by Hannah Capin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Poetic, brutal, and hard hitting, this is about revenge, feminism, sexual assault, the best of friends, and the weight of guilt. Amazing read
Book 5 of 2020
Confessions of a Male Nurse by Michael Alexander ⭐️⭐️⭐️
After reading This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay I've been trying to read more medical books - I ejoyed it and it was nice to get a different perspective i.e. mental health and across countries but not my fave
Book 6 of 2020
Wilder Girls by Rory Power ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I did enjoy most of this haunting insight to a secluded girls school during an epidemic that leaves them desperate to survive, but the ending did not hold up for me and left me feeling massively robbed
Book 7 of 2020
The Memory Wood by Sam Lloyd ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
OMG this is so well paced, breaks off from one POV to another just at the right moment to keep you hooked, plays with timelines but not to its confusing, and goes places I never ever EVER saw coming. Absolutely amazing
Book 8 of 2020
Unpregnant by Jenni Hendrick and Ted Caplan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fun read but an important look at teenage pregnancies, accessibility to abortions, and manipulative boyfriend behaviour with a strong female friendship at the head of the narrative
Book 9 of 2020
Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An unusual short story told in the form of letters between Carrie and David as they uncover their spouses are having an affair. A short but fun and cute read from an amazing writer
Book 9 of 2020
I'll Be Gone In The Dark by Michelle McNamara ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The story of the Golden State Killer is rivetting on its own but McNamara guides you through the story of the police investigation with ease, despite the confusing timeline
Book 10 of 2020
Rules for Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bit disappointing that this book went so deep into the plot of a fair few others books...I know they're old but not everyone has read every single book. Other than that, interesting plot and I enjoyed the mystery
Book 11 of 2020
Tuesday Mooney Wore Black by Kate Racculia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A strange little book but it was so different that I loved it. Tuesday was a fascinating character and I was so drawn into the puzzle I felt I was almost hunting for clues myself
Book 12 of 2020
The Other People by C.J. Tudor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An interweaving web of characters and lies and mysteries and an overall thrill to read
Book 13 of 2020
The Love Hypoethesis by Laura Steven ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can't imagine Laura ever writing something I won't adore. This is funny and silly while also being full of joy and love and yet still being to talk about serious topics. Loved it!
Book 14 of 2020
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow. What. A. Book. So well crafted with stunning world building, so much imagination and an absolute pleasure to get lost in
Book 15 of 2020
The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am once again astounded by the talent Mandel has to create these characters and this world that I can fall so deeply into and become enveloped in. This book will stay with me for a while yet
Book 16 of 2020
The Search Party by Simon Lelic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An unusually written yet fascinating to follow novel, this is a thriller I read in a day and had no idea where it would end. Loved each characters individual voices too!
