Here's my comfort soup, the Olive Garden copycat thing. I am a bad cook but you can maybe make it better.

FIRST brown some sausage. Salt and black pepper. Oregano if you like it. The trick is RED PEPPER, as much as you like. I add a little here but more for my bowl.

Once that's good and crumbly, don't drain, throw in a generous tablespoon minced garlic (NOT powder) and a dismembered onion. You can also chop up about about four strips of bacon and get the onions clear in that but I DO NOT HAVE TIME AAAAAAAAAAAA
(cw: food)

You want onions, don't be a tiny baby, they give this shit the good flavor. Stir stir stir so they don't burn, we want them JUST starting to change colors.

I buy a pre-chopped onion because my eyes are HORRIBLE BASTARDS so do what you must SOUP DEPENDS ON IT.

POTATOES. About four good-sized russet spuds. Clean and slice to about the height of *tags random tiny of your choice*.
(cw: food)

Add about... two of these. Or use stock, or bullion, or whatever. About eight cups or 420.69 hexlitres. Pour that over your sausage nonsense in the big pot. Add spuds. Stir stir stir like it's an argument with your MAGA chud uncle on facebook.

BOIL THAT MESSY BUSINESS AND WATCH FROM A SAFE DISTANCE. The spuds are absorbing powerful pork energies. Get them soft to your liking. 15 minutes should be ample if you keep the heat up. I'm personally gonna lower the heat because I've got to go out for a minute.

What I'm doing might make the potatoes SLIGHTLY too tender but MY WIFE WORKS TONIGHT AND I HAVE AN ERRAND THAT MUST BE RUN IMMEDIATELY SO AAAAAAAA
(cw: food)

AWRIGHT LET'S END THIS. Once the potatoes are tender add about a cup of heavy cream, one of those milk carton looking jawns will be adequate. Also a LOT of kale, ripped untimely from its stems. Heat through, stir a LOT, the cream and the broth love to separate.

SERVE. Good bread is essential. Grated parmesan is nice. Extra red pepper if you're me. Creamy and comforty and hot and nice. Serves a bunch. Lower portions or eat that shit ALL WEEK LONG, BABY.
(cw: food)

(My potatoes mostly did not survive but this shit is HEARTY if you do it right and don't like drive to the next town over while it's cooking.)

Good bread.
