THREAD: Monthly profections

You may have heard of annual profections: every year, a house & sign are activated & the ruler of that sign becomes your “lord of the year."

This also applies to months of the year.

This thread is gonna focus on monthly profections, but if you wanna learn more about annual profections, here are great posts by fellow astrologers @justjogleason & @gemeauxlogy :

W/ annual profections, every year on your birthday, a new house gets activated that year. Each month of that year will also have a different house/sign activated.

But which house is activated during what months? Start with the house that is activated by annual profections.

Ex: you turn 24 years old on 1/5/20 & are a Virgo rising. 1H Virgo profection year.

1st month of this year, starting w your bday, is your prof month.

Month 1 (1/5/20-2/4/20): 1H Virgo prof
Month 2 (2/5/20-3/4/20): 2H Libra prof
Month 3 (3/5/20-4/4/20): 3H Scorpio prof

& so on.

Why use monthly profections? Annual profections give you major theme(s) of the year. Eg. 7H prof year, topics around your close relationships (romantic, platonic, business) will arise.

Monthly profections break down the year, can give you more details on what will happen & when.

Annual profections gives you 1 time lord. You can focus on this planet’s transits, as well as transits to this planet in your natal chart. Transits to your annual profected house are also important.

With monthly profections, you get a 2nd time lord & profected house to look at.

Let’s go back to the example above. This person is in a 1H profection year, so 1H topics like identity & physical body/appearance will come up this year. You should pay attention to Mercury’s transits this year, as well as any transits to natal Mercury & transits in 1H.

In the 2nd month (2/5/20-3/4/20) when 2H Libra is activated, 2H topics like money & possessions will arise & may tie in w 1H topics. Also pay attention to Venus’ transits this month, transits to natal Venus, & transits in 2H.
