Welcome to 2020, freelancers!

When clients pay late, the law says that you have the right to charge late fees PLUS interest.

Fees:
- £40 for invoices up to £1000
- £70 up to £10,000
- £100 above £10,000

Put this on your invoice template today, and let's start implementing it.
You don't actually need to have this on your invoices to collect on the fees or interest (it is the law regardless of whether or not you've noted it on your invoices) BUT its very presence can help you get paid on time.

Note that companies can't contract out of this.
Another way to do this is to build these late payment fees (or others) into your initial invoices, and offer clients an "early payment" discount if they pay within 30 days. This might even be more effective.
