Starting my 2020 drama thread with my favorite #YoonShiYoon in Romance Full of Life. This was a short web series with a lot of heart. YSY was adorable as always. There were lots of funny & silly moments but also relatable ones as well. Fighting! đŸ’Ș Plus I got kissing so win! 8/10
Guess I'm in the mood for cute & silly lately cuz To Get Her was another enjoyable watch. The drama didn't take itself seriously which was fun. They flipped some tropes, didn't drag out the angst and gave us lots of cute kissing. And an adorable secondary couple to boot. 8/10
I hope you didnt come here expecting an unbiased review of #PsychopathDiary cuz you're out of luck. I absolutely adore Yoon Shi Yoon and it's no secret. The chemistry between YSY & PSH was my fav! Psychopath Diary was a fun ride, just don't expect a dark technical thriller. 8/10
What do I even say about #ChiefKim?! I haven't laughed this much watching a kdrama in forever. The cast was fantastic, the balance between funny & serious was perfect, and the pacing kept building & it just got better & better. This drama had so much heart! ❀ Gonna miss it. 9/10
After my rage w/ the way #TinCan's story ended in LBC, I was told to watch the actors in #2Wish. I loved seeing them cute & smiley but I feel like I was missing something. Since this was short, I'm assuming their story was featured in another drama cuz the conflict seemed silly.
#JoyOfLife is done & I only have myself to blame for my reaction. Just when the story was getting interesting again, it's over...for now. We must wait for the next season to see what happens next. Will I return? I haven't decided. The cast was fantastic & I was hooked tho. 8.5/10
What to say about #EmperorsandMe? Is it a great drama, no but was I entertained, you bet. #GaoTaiYu was the draw for me cuz he's stunning. Plot holes & eye candy. Historical costumes & idol chic. Cliches & tropes. Time travel & romance. Kisses & open endings but no regrets. 7/10
Memoir of a Murderer was rec'd to me because I was curious about #KimNamGil. I don't watch a lot of crime shows but I thought this one was so fascinating. The plot twists and action were expected but the tears were not. I wasn't prepared for the feels or that ending. 7.5/10
#WokOfLove was delightfully quirky but not without flaws. For example, some characters and plotlines just vanished (like the bowls of black bean noodles). Our cast of characters and their chemistry was definitely the highlight for me. Delicious food & kissing, yes please. 8/10 đŸ„
I've been gravitating towards fun, cute & silly dramas lately. #MantoMan definitely fit that criteria for the most part. The tone did shift in the second half a bit. I enjoyed our trios shenanigans and the bromance the most. The romance and ending were a bit lackluster. 7.5/10
May I give you some advice? Watch #APoemADay if u can. It may seem like just another slice of life drama but I really liked that it showed people in all their many facets. I loved the use of poetry & the bromance between our radiologists. Didn't agree w/FLs idea of love tho. 8/10
Well I was super excited to watch #MyHoloLove and binge watched the whole thing in one day. Yoon Hyun Min & Go Sung Hee are great and it started off pretty good but unfortunately I just couldn't get into the plot. I also felt emotionally disconnected which was unfortunate. 6.5/10
Seven Days: Monday-Thursday & Seven Days: Friday-Sunday appear on a lot of fav BL lists so I decided to give them a go. The hair made me giggle & the kissing is awkward but I actually really liked the story. It's slower paced but I felt the tension. Bonus points for a HEA. 8/10
There were so many things I liked about #DoctorJohn. The cast was great (esp his team), the cases were interesting and it had the emotional element I was hoping for. It's unfortunate that they added in the trope I hate the most right at the end. Changed my feelings for ML. 7/10.
If you're looking for a light & sweet love story, #MyGirlfriend should hit the spot. It did for me. The plot is a bit silly but I just really liked all the characters. It's a slow burn & a bit draggy in places but I enjoyed the friendships, the romance, the feels & #YiXuan. 8/10
Oh man! #ArangandtheMagistrate, I wanted to love you. It started out so well. Was loving the humor, the chemistry between our leads & the murder mystery element. Then we took a detour into Angstville & we never recovered. I got bored & frustrated and what was that ending? 6.5/10
#SomedayOrOneDay, what a drama! The cast was GREAT and the plot was fascinating & heartfelt. I just fell in love with the characters. Also loved the storytelling, I never knew what was gonna happen next. An addicting ride but have Kleenex. 9/10
Triggers: animal death & suicide
Not gonna lie, I saw a pic of #leejongwon from #XX and it made me want to check out the show. There were many reasons I stayed tho. The friendship between Na Na & Jayden, the sweet romance, the dynamic between the FLs, the character growth & cinematography. I'd rewatch! 8.5/10
The secret's out, I broke down and finally watched #HerPrivateLife. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. I really hated the fangirl element, so many mixed messages. The leads gave us good kissing but the plot was dull. Unpopular opinion but I loved 2nd ML. 6.5/10
I had sworn off long cdramas but then a friend rec'd #OhMyGeneral to me & I'm glad she did. This drama took a trope I usually dislike & flipped it and gave us so many strong female characters. Sure there was some angsty tropes & political filler but our leads romance shined! 8/10
I wanted to watch #WitchsCourt but wasn't sure I could handle the content. It was hard but once I started I couldn't stop. Our leads were excellent & I loved their dynamic. I appreciated they shined a light on what victims go through. My complaint lies w/the shallow villain. 8/10
Was looking for an addictive binge watch & #TheK2 delivered pretty well. A fun ride but it did drag in a few places. Ji Chang Wook & Song Yoon Ah's chemistry sizzled! The writers gave us a complicated & compelling antagonist but a sobbing mess for a FL & a forced romance. 7.5/10
Stumbled across #DetectiveL randomly. I'm a sucker for historicals and #BaiYu so it wasn't a hard sell. I loved the feel of this drama. It's very Sherlock-esque, well plotted & paced. The cast was great, especially enjoyed our leads. Strong FL for the win! PSA: Open ending.
8/10
I was in need of cute and a friend told me to watch this short web drama. #DearMyName was totally adorable and I couldn't stop smiling, you guys. I was a little worried when a certain trope appeared but I liked the way it was handled. Short & sweet and exactly what I needed. 8/10
So I got impatient and needed to see #ZhangMingEn in another drama & this one co-starred his IRL girlfriend. They were both GREAT however the plot wasn't. It started off really fun but then we got attempted rape, angst, noble idiocy, a teen/adult romance & an open ending. 😔 6/10
#MarriageNotDating started off silly & had me rolling at all the crazy shenanigans but then we got to the heart of the matter. There was a fair share of misunderstandings & angst but also lots of kissing & emotional payoff. Loved the lead's chemistry. A rom-com done well. ❀ 8/10
#Followers on Netflix was a visual treat. The way they played with color was stunning. I wish some of the characters had been as vivid tho. Nori was definitely underused. Limi & Eriko were my favorite storylines. I love that we got shown these confident, mature women. 7.5/10
As someone who lost a family member too soon & as a mother, I should have loved #HiByeMama but unfortunately I didn't. I started off loving FL but by the halfway point I couldn't tolerate her behavior anymore. The end message was nice but I didn't love how we got there. 🌾 6.5/10
#TheLongestDayinChangan starts off a bit slow but then when it gets going, hang on. I loved all the twists & turns. There are lots of characters, plots & secrets. This drama & its characters are like an onion, so many layers & tears. Lastly the cinematography was gorgeous. 9/10
Apparently I have a thing for time travel romances. #Backto1989 gave me lots of feels, leads with great chemistry, kissing, friends, forgiveness & found family. It wasn't a flawless drama with some pacing issues & drawn out angst but I was all in & that's all that matters. 8.5/10
I don't even know how I found #LoveForaThousandMore but I'm so glad I did. Sometimes starting a drama with no expectations is a beautiful thing. It's like discovering a gem. I couldn't stop smiling while watching. Quirky FL lead, dangerous dimples, feels & #Yoon singing. ❀
8/10
I'm sad, I thought I'd love #100DaysMyPrince but it just felt like Shopping King Louie in Joseon. The actors did good with what they were given & it was pretty but the plot dragged, went in circles, was full of filler and tropes. I came for D.O. but fell for Kim Jae Young. 6/10
#illgotoyouwhentheweatherisnice was so close to being perfect. I loved the slower pace of life outside of Seoul, this town and it's inhabitants. I fell hard for our leads & rooted for their happiness so I was devastated by a choice that was made late in the drama. â˜•â€đŸ˜8/10
Oh #Rugal, what a disappointment. Started out promising but then it all fell apart. From a team that was never very cohesive, to ridiculous & predictable twists, missed opportunities, & more. Action packed but soulless. Hoped we'd at least get a satisfying ending but alas. 6/10
Once I started #FindMelnYourMemory I couldn't stop. I was intrigued from the get go and these characters easily captured my heart. I loved their honesty, their vulnerability and their realness despite ALL the kdrama tropes. I cried for their pain & also their happiness. 8.5/10
#Lookout was the fast paced revenge drama I was after and had me on the edge of my seat. I devoured it in 2 days. I adored our team & their dynamic. Even though the end broke my heart and didn't fully give me all the answers I wanted. It sure delivered on the rest. 8.5/10
#HotelDelLuna was full of stunning visuals, costumes & cast members but ultimately didn't quite live up to the hype for me. IMO, the drama spent to much of each ep focused on a ghost who would be here & then gone while the main plot got teased and drawn out. I wanted more. 7.5/10
You know what's great when you are struggling to find something to watch? A short kdrama with action, mystery, friendship & romance. Oh and did I mention shirtless #LeeJoonHyuk? Naked Fireman wasn't flawless but it was a fun & engaging binge watch perfect for the weekend. 8/10
#SecretoftheThreeKingdoms had a lot going for it. An interesting premise, a fabulous bromance, a couple worth rooting for, good kissing, beautiful costumes & music. I did check out a bit emotionally towards the end with the political schemes & mind games. Bittersweet ending. 8/10
Damn, you guys!! Just finished #365RepeatTheYear and I'm in tears. This drama was SO good. I don't watch a lot of thrillers but every episode had me on the edge of my seat. I never knew what to expect or what would happen next. I was totally enthralled! Our leads killed it. 9/10
I'd been told before to watch #Misty but was hesitant cuz of people's strong feelings about the ending. I guess I was in the mood for complicated. Glad I took a chance & watched it because it was worth it. Strong complex characters, a twisty plot & striking cinematography. 8.5/10
#TheMysticNine was a very mixed bag for me. I enjoyed our leads, the bromance, costumes, action & fight scenes. Where the show failed me was in the plot, pacing and special effects. There was enough to keep me watching but definitely had to use the fast forward button. 6.5/10
Once again #Strongberry has put out another Korean BL movie that I enjoyed. #AsIfYouWhisper is short & sweet and made me smile. Loved all the music in this one too. I purchase their movies in the hopes they'll be able to continue creating positive content. Here's to HEAs! 8/10
I don't watch many H.S. dramas but if they were all like #WhenWeWereYoung, I'd definitely watch more. This was such a heartwarming drama about youth, friendship, family, following your dreams & your heart. ❀ It isn't flashy or angsty but these kids felt real & relatable. 8.5/10
Oh, what might have been. #TheRomanceofTigerandRose started out so well. I thought I was in for a fun meta drama but ended up with all the typical frustrating tropes & even an unforgivable scene involving an attempted sexual assault which they never bothered to address. đŸ˜€ 5.5/10
TMW you stumble upon a hidden gem. #YoungBlood was a joy from start to finish. Wang Juan excels at writing stories layered with intrigue but infused with ample humor. The plot was unpredictable & exciting. The cast was loyal & loveable. Espionage, adventure & even romance. 9/10
#HospitalPlaylist is a heartwarming slice of life. It did get a bit more medical as the show went on. The friendships & hospital dynamics are where this drama really shines. I know there will be another season & that's why I hesitated. It does leave things open but I'm ok. 8.5/10
Just finished #Remember: War of the Son & I honestly don't know how to feel. I'm sitting here in tears. That was the saddest show EVER. It was both frustrating & compelling. #YooSeungHo & #ParkMinYoung made you fall in love with them while #NamGoongMin made u hate him. 7.5/10
Guess I'm just on a roll to murder my feels. It's no secret I'm a #JingBoran fan so when I found #UsAndThem on Netflix this morning I immediately hit play. Well now I'm in tears. A bittersweet love story about dreams, family & what it means to love. Is love really enough? 8.5/10
Here we go again! 😭 I watched #BetterDays starring #ZhouDongYu & #JacksonYee. This was a hard movie to watch cuz it deals with bullying but it was important and riveting. Our leads had great chemistry & their performance moved me to tears. Jackson continues to impress! 8.5/10
If I'm being honest, #OhMyBaby puzzles me. I feel like for a show w/ mature themes it often felt immature. I enjoyed the messages on love, work & motherhood but didn't entirely love how we got there. I never really felt sparks with our leads either. #JungGunJoo was my fav! 7/10
I'm a sucker for historicals so when I saw #AFrozenFlower on Viki I decided to give it a go. Well, I was not prepared for the amount of sex scenes (M/M & M/F) in this movie. Guess I can't complain about lack of kissing now. Familiar faces, a wicked love triangle & a tragic end.
I have a complicated relationship w/ BL dramas but everyone seemed to love #WhereYourEyesLinger so I gave it a go. I didn't love it as much as everyone else tho. The actors were good but this kind of story felt too rushed for me. The drama ended where I wish it had begun. 7.5/10
Boy, #APieceofYourMind really hit the spot. It wasn't a perfect drama, there was one thing that I wish had been better explained but the overall theme of grief, healing and love was beautiful & comforting. I'm sad this beautiful drama was cut short. It was like a warm hug. 9/10
