BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLES

UPDATE 5

I have once again updated my table of BEVs and I have added a column and chart for the EPA Fuel Consumption MPGe

Numbers in Black Bold are input data, and the numbers in Blue Bold are calculated

THREAD
I have also added a second table showing BEVs that are not currently available in the U.S. market for various reasons

- the ones in Grey do not yet have EPA ratings

- the ones in Light Grey are my own estimates and therefore the least reliable
These are the manufacturers’ Base Prices for vehicles currently available in the USA
These are the EPA Fuel Consumption MPGe numbers for the same vehicles
And these are their EPA Ranges
This shows what you are paying for in terms of the relationship between Base Price and Range
This is the Miles per kWh of battery capacity . . .
. . . and this is the Kilometres per kWh of battery capacity for those who prefer
Average Energy Consumption is shown here in Watt-Hours per Mile . . .
. . . which is used to give a reference Electricity Cost per 1,000 Miles based on a global reference rate of $0.10 per kWh, which can be easily adjusted to local conditions

If Home Solar charging is used, this cost might be zero on a marginal basis
And the same average Energy Consumption is shown here in Watt-Hours per Kilometre . . .
. . . to give a reference Electricity Cost per 1,000 Kilometres based on a global reference rate of $0.10 per kWh, which can be easily adjusted to local conditions

If Home Solar charging is used, this cost might be zero on a marginal basis
The Vehicle Kerb Weights (empty) are shown here in Pounds . . .
. . . and here in Kilograms
From these basic data we have derived a simple measure of Efficiency calculated as Tonne-Kms per kWh, which normalises the kWh per distance efficiency for the amount of the vehicle weight

- higher is better
APPENDIX

These additional reference materials were included with the previous table and set of charts

They are included here for easy access
