Really disappointed that there are disabled people in this community commenting to other disabled people that opioid use should be entirely avoided and will always lead to addiction.

You can still be ableist as a disabled person. Shaming the use of medication we NEED is ableist.
It has been reported and stated so many times that this epidemic does not fall on the shoulders of the chronically ill. If you did any research at all, you would know that.

CW: suicide conversation incoming
Why are these people more at arms about addiction (and the false blaming of an epidemic on chronic pain patients) than they are about the possibility of these patients taking their own lives because of the pain we have to experience every. single. day.
I know white feminism and liberal natural groups would like you to think this, but as someone who has meditated for years, this is not the kind of pain you breathe through.

It's often not even something you can distract from. You really think you could sit in that pain daily?
A lot of us are only able to work, leave the house or bed, participate in relationships, take on hobbies, care for pets, bathe ourselves, lift food to our mouths because we have our medications.

Everytime you falsely report on opioid use, YOU personally make that harder for us.
A large majority of us do not have access to THC. A large majority of us need a combination of medicine and natural therapies. All of us would do ANYTHING to make the pain lessen.

YOU shaming us, hurts all of us. You shaming us directly harms this community every single day.
So next time you try to talk about an epidemic centered around medication, research who you're affecting the most if you're off base.

The epidemic reaction and this basic misunderstanding is terrifying to us. I live in fear everyday that my medication will be unaccessible soon.
Quite frankly,

I highly highly anticipate my own personal inability to be able to survive that reality

I'm hanging by a thread now as it is. I went medication free all last summer. It was incredibly excruciating and mentally toiling.

You hurt people like me with this rhetoric.
(end rant*)

*For now

**I still stay yelling in your mentions (sorry) and going to bat with ableist trash in your replies 😬
Actually I just want to touch on one last thing.

The other argument I've seen these people make about opioids, is that they should always be taken short term because they don't improve our condition over time....

HELLO, I am chronic illness, just checking in with a gavel
