Reading list 2020
Gonna post on this thread when I finish a book. I count audiobooks, because who has time to read, really?
Ever since I found out about the @LibbyApp I've been trying to get through the classics. This book was amazing and I wish I would have read it before now.
2. #YouCantTouchMyHair I was a huge fan of #2DopeQueens the podcast, but never got to watch the show. Finally got to the book. It was Amahzing. I feel it was a skosh more Coates than she gives it credit for, definitely hilarious
3. So I watched the movie way before I read this, as such I knew the turn. That said, I absolutely loved this. Both of the main characters are garbage. It had a toned down Chuck Palahniuk feel and a dirty sexy feel that reminded me of Bret Easton Ellis 4*/5
4. So this took like 4 months to get from the library. It's one of the touchstones of the true crime genre. It's... okay. It took about a third of the book to really draw me in. I liked it, but considering where real crime is, stuff like head injuries was glanced over. 3*/5*
5. Been binging on this series. Whenever I have a heavy true crime or just life beats me down I love some espionage with monsters and pride and prejudice feels. Popcorn, but that's not bad 4*/5* #parisolProtectorate
6. I don't know. I think I really only like HST when he's political. Light fiction just doesn't do it for me. Where Gone Girl is fun, this feels like the proto Brett Easton Ellis I just want to throw across the room. I'd recommend a rum bender than reading this 2*/5*
7-man I love Joe Hill. He's got his dad's amazing gift for characterization, and actually sticks the landing. These people feel 'real' This felt like Thinner more than anything else. Note on the Audiobook has the absolute worst metal riffs between chapters 5*/5*
8-white people are the wooooorst. The fucking worst 4*/5*
9. White negroes really bummed me out, so I went with this to feel better. This was super fun. It felt a little less focused than her first one. I definitely would go see her if she ever comes to town while I have money. 3*5/*
10. Not even going to lie, never heard of this before the series started on HBO. Started this before episode 3 dropped. It's a better version of IT and had a better ending for sure. I'm going to get Mr Mercedes when it's available 4*/5*
11. I really hate that Audible gets the unabridged version and public libraries get abridged. If abridged was what I wanted I'd have just watched the movie. Oh well whatever, the story is still delightful 4*/5*
12 Who was telling me this was good? l wont post comics unless l read them as a trade because lordy do l read a lot of comics. This was fun. l hope it returns. the art really fits the tone. always a fan of comics that dont fit the stereotypes 4*/5
