Thread of books read in 2020 https://twitter.com/allthingsaeesha/status/1084871944267317253
1. The Woods by Vanessa Savage - 4 stars; a gripping psychological thriller; definitely recommend.
The Woods will be out on the 23rd of January.
Thank you @BooksSphere
The Shadow King by Maaza Mengiste - 4 stars; a new all time fav; gave The Moor’s Account feel and taught a lot about the second Italo-Ethiopian war. Highly recommend!

Hardback from @canongatebooks will be out 30th of January. Thank you for the review copy!
Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara - 5 stars; sweet & beautifully written. I forgot the author wasn’t a 9 yo boy. Highly recommend (if you watch Hindi movies very well, you’ll be familiar with a lot of words)
Out TOMORROW! 🎉
Thank you @vintagebooks @ChattoBooks
Semicolon by Cecelia Watson (gifted by @4thEstateBooks )
3.5 stars; a very interesting account on the historical use of Semicolon. If you’re curious about the punctuation mark, this book is right for you
The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead: 4.5 stars; based on the haunting discoveries made at the Dozier’s school for Boys, The Nickel Boys is another worthy addition to CW’s oeuvre. I highly recommend it â˜ș
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green: 4 stars! Finally, a JG novel that I can recommend with my chest. This book describes the complexities of relationship with MH illnesses, especially in teens.
Strongly recommend đŸ‘ŒđŸŸ
Americanah by (the OG) CNA: 4.5 stars; I know a lot of people didn’t enjoy this book but nah, this book flipped me like dodo!
CNA needs to release another novel, we have tried!

A Palace in the Old Village by Tahar Ben Jelloun: 3 stars; I found this interesting translated book at the national library. In less than 200 pages, it dissects immigration and its effect on parent-children relationship & d anti-blackness common in Magreb communities.
Zeina by Nawal el-Saadawi (gifted by @SaqiBooks ): 3 stars; Zeina is quite a deep story. The writing is stellar, as is el-Saadawi’s specialty😍 but the characters blended into one another so much so that one can get lost. Still a good read sha đŸ‘ŒđŸŸ
Little Eyes by Samanta Schwebli (ARC gifted by @OneworldNews) : 4 stars; đŸ€ŠđŸŸâ€â™€ïž I have no idea why I haven’t read any of this woman’s books since all these days. This book legit screwed with my head, dented it in and I wanted more đŸ˜«đŸ˜«
Little Eyes will be out on the 16th of April!!
