Digimon Xros Wars is unique in that the Digimon enemies frequently beat up the kids and they get hurt a lot. Kiriha in particular suffers a lot, like say, that time he was shoved into an electric barrier. And Taiki got smacked around by Gravimon. Their journey wasn’t painless.
Also I would be surprised if Nene didn’t have ptsd from the way DarkKnightmon treated her and the whole situation she was in in general.
Also, in Digimon Xros Wars, the bit where Gravimon abducts Kiriha was terrifying. I thought he’d attack or torture him. That situation could have gone south so fast if Kiriha didn’t listen to his manipulations. Ironically, that was likely the safest choice Kiriha could have made.
Like it turned out pretty bad, but believe me, I was so relieved when Gravimon just talked at him for a bit. It could’ve been so much worse. Gravimon DID attack him later though. He got caught in an attack along with the Digimon and was clearly choking.
Like, it was terrifying how absolutely helpless the kids were against the death generals without their Digimon around, which happened A LOT. Remember when Splashmon tried to drown Kiriha? And he couldn’t do anything?
Oh, and that time Nene got stuck in Lucemon’s Hell Sphere™️ and they had to spend an entire episode trying to rescue her. I don’t know what being stuck in a sphere of pure darkness and negativity would feel like, but I assume it wouldn’t be pleasant.
And remember when Bagramon almost offed Taiki? It was like the last episode and he crushed Taiki with his hand and would have blasted him if Shoutmon didn’t come back in time. That was painful to watch because it was blatantly obvious Taiki couldn’t fight back against him.
And that time Gravimon put his core in Taiki’s arm. Just, that whole thing.
In conclusion, I hope all these kids went to therapy because YIKES.
Digimon frontier also had the kids fighting, but that had a different vibe because at least they weren’t helpless.
AND ONCE AGAIN THE DIGIMON AIMS FOR THE KIDS
