I keep hearing that Rise of Skywalker was “corny” & “seems like random scenes & story beats loosely strung together.” I say you’re wrong. It’s clear to me that Abrams planned all character arcs from the beginning, you just have to know one thing: he’s a major hispanophile. Thread
#1 Rey - easiest one, “rey” means king in spanish, who’s the king of star wars? Emperor palpatine, boom, NEXT!
#2 Finn - Fin means “end” in Spanish. Did that extra N throw you off? Yeah, J.J. Is a trickster. Anyway “Fin” refers to the fact that his arc ends before the third movie, that’s why he doesn’t really do anything in TRoS. Like I said PLANNED FROM THE BEGINNING!
#3 Rose - you probably got thrown off by the fact that “rose” is an actual word in english, but rose, in spanish, means “I grazed” or “I brushed” in the sense of lightly touching something. This is why she “grazes” the movie for only 72 seconds.
#4 Poe - I can see why you guys didn’t get this one “Dameron” rhymes with “camaron” which means “shrimp” in Spanish. Shrimp are, traditionally the most closeted of arthropods, that’s why Finn and Poe can’t be together.
We go to 1 planet to get a dagger, another to translate it, & another to get a map to go to a final planet? Obviously J.J. evokes the complexity of translating something into Spanish.
Map = what regional spanish dialect
Translation=duh
Dagger = legal problems if you get it wrong.
Snoke being a puppet’s also obvious as spanish speakers would pronounce his name “es-no-keh” which would be spelled Es No que. all of which are actual words. Rearrange them to get “es que no” which translates to “um, no” letting you know that Snoke was never meant to be important
I mean, I could keep going, but I think you get my point. End thread.
