Since the decade is coming to an end, I want to focus on why the Black Lives Matter Movement is important. Do not tell African Americans that all lives matter when none of their lives mattered to our justice system. If there is injustice anywhere, there is injustice everywhere.
2011: By March, the Miami Police department killed seven unarmed black men. Not even weeks later, the seventh victim who was named Travis McNeil was killed in a traffic stop, he never left his seat nor had any weapons upon him. No justice was served for these men in 2011.
Tamar Rice only got to live to 12 years old when he was killed by a police officer. This little boy had a BB gun at a park and he was killed seconds after the police officer saw him. No warnings or sayings were said to Mr. Rice. Still no justice is brought to the Rice family.

Sandra Bland lived up to be 28 years old after she was arrested at a traffic stop. Her death was ruled to be a suicide when her mugshot clearly shows that she was deceased before even going into the jail cell. No one was charged for her death.
2012: It would be the last year Trayvon Martin stepped into a convenience store to buy a snack and drink. This unknown man named George Zimmerman would be the last person to see Trayvon Martin alive. Trayvon Martin got no justice after George Zimmerman pleaded not guilty.
On September 14th 2013, Jonanthan Ferrell was only 24 years old when he crashed into a woman's house. The woman called the police and instead of someone helping Mr. Ferrell, he was shot ten times. Randall Kendrick was charged for his murder.
Eric Garner was only 43 years old when he sold cigarettes for the last time. He was put into a choke hold after repeatedly telling cops that he could not breath. Cops did not listen to this unarmed man and Eric Garner was killed. He still has not received justice.
Kaleif Browder supposedly killed himself on June 6th 2015. Kalief Browder was wrongly accused of stealing a man’s book bag and served years in prison being abused. After, prison himself and his family received death threats from the government and his death was ruled as a suicide
2017: Botham Jean was shot and killed in 2017 after an off duty officer named Amber Guyer went into his apartment. Reports showed that Guyer shot another man in 2017 but no charges were brought. Thankfully, charges were brought against Guyer for Jean’s death.
2018: Stephon Clark had two children under the age of three when he was shot seven times in his grand-mother’s backyard. Recently, crime reports of break-ins were reported in the neighborhood but after Clark’s death, it was ruled that he did not commit these crimes. No justice.
