Sam treats people extremely bad but because he's soft spoken, people ignore it and go at Dean because he is rough thus an easy target. if y'all ready for that conversation, read on. (not just how he treats Dean, for THAT just read the pics (not written by me but valid af points))
lets start with Jack, the example most people cite. yall go how Sam treated him good and Dean treated him bad. just take away the comparative element and look at it individually for a bit and think about it. Sam's first instinct was to use that 1 day old as a portal maker (cont.)
and let's see how he pressured Jack to practise his powers to the point that even someone as mild as Jack ended up screaming at him. when Lucifer gave them choice of killing each other in the finale, he didn't stop Jack from offing himself, even though he could, Jack was weakened
when Dean was consumed by his rage, grief and revenge regarding Jack killing Mary, Sam was shown to be a lot more level headed, but he still helped Dean in trapping Jack in the box, using Jack's mom and his own mom to manipulate Jack into coming there. but people only blame Dean
and dont come to me saying "he looked hesitant". if he actually didn't want to do it, he wouldn't have. Sam has rebelled against Dean for 50% of things since the beginning and he couldnt take a stand for his 'son'? surrre. he even admitted part of him wanted Jack dead but ok lol
NOW, let's come to how he has been regarding Cas. yall have been harping about how he loves Cas (whether romantically or platonically) and how his relationship with Cas is less toxic than Dean's is. I am sorry, I HAVE to laugh
lets start with how in season 6, he (and Bobby) didnt trust Cas, while Dean did. how in s7e1, he literally stabbed Cas in the back, and after a few days, he went and prayed to him. people cite how Dean asked Death to kill Cas when Cas was becoming genocidal, Sam didnt object too
lets continue with season 7, Dean is devastated enough to carry around Cas's trenchcoat with him. Sam doesnt even mention Cas. but ok, mayhaps he was pissed about Cas breaking his mind wall, I'll let that go now. let's skip forward to season 8. purgatory. Sam not even trying (c)
(c) to look for Dean. abandoning Kevin. but there is one more person at play here - Cas. he saw Dean was clearly traumatised about what happened to Cas in purgatory, asked once and once Dean asked, he just didnt bother asking again at all.
lets skip to the finale now
lets skip to the finale now
"another angel, another vampire"... sure shows what Cas meant to Sam, someone who was taking Dean's attention from him. let's come to season 9, Sam knew Cas had lost his powers but he wasn't all that bothered when Cas was gone (he didn't know Dean was blackmailed by Gadreel but
still, barely any concern for the naive, just human Cas). let's come to season 10. people trash Dean for letting Cas go in 15.3, well they ignore Sam literally did that in season 10 ep 1. he let a dying Cas leave the bunker (or worse, may have asked him to leave) and live alone
and when Cas was talking about missing Dean, Sam hung up the phone after saying he missed Dean too. Cas wasnt done talking yet but ok. moving to season 10 ep 23, Sam manipulated Cas into abetting in a human sacrifice to get the Mark of Cain off Dean, but cool ig lol
then the Casifer thing in s11. people try to spin it as "respecting Cas's decision", wow thats convenient... and inaccurate. Sam himself didn't say Yes but he was cool with wanting to keep using Cas as the vessel despite knowing the trauma of Lucifer's possession all too well
in season 12, when Cas was MIA for weeks on end, Dean was freaking out, but Sam was chill. but cool, y'all spin that too lmfao. when Cas was literally killed by Lucifer, Sam was sad for one episode and then his attitude was like "Cas who?" but ok lol
in "Peace of Mind", Sam did not snap out of it throughout the time Cas was calling out to him, but the moment he mentioned Dean and Jack, Sam came to his senses, but hey let's ignore that too. Sam did not blame Cas for Mary dying, true, but he still went and helped trapping Jack
when Dean volunteered Cas to go to hell, Sam did not say anything at all. yall get all mushy about those texts, well Sam did not even try to find out whether Cas was even safe. yall call it respecting his choice, well lotta good it'd do if Cas was k worded and they didnt know
NOW let's come to others. Sam tearing up possession victims to drink their blood while claiming to do the right thing was a classic. Sam berating Dean for killing Amy, a killer, while wanting to kill innocent Benny was also just *chef's kiss* wasn't it?
Sam was really so nice to Jack amirite? wonder why he couldn't show mercy to Dean's daughter who was basically the same, she was also a victim (of brainwashing) and she hadnt killed anyone. and dont come crying "she was gonna kill Dean", Sam could have shot her leg or something
instead of outright killing her. they could have at least tried to bring her to the right path. but hey as long as it's Sammy, whatever he does is correct, amirite? ooh and Sam treating Benny the horrific way he did, just wow
then let's come to Sam literally chaining up Rowena to get her to do what he wanted, blackmailing her with her freedom to kill the boy she loved. and hours later he has the gall to speech Dean about saving everyone... what of the innocent boy you just sacrificed, Sammy?
people trash Mary for joining the BMOL even though they tortured Sam. I agree that was a trash move. but guess who else joined BMOL? Sam. and was it openly? hell no. he went and kept it secret from Dean, who was already reeling from Mary betraying them. freaking awesome
people say Dean lashes out. fair enough, he does. but guess who was cold to Donna who had just grasped the reality regarding hunters not getting normal lives - yes it was sensitive Sammy. he took out the frustration he was feeling on her, in guise of 'acquainting her with truth'
then let's come to poor Gabriel. he had just come out of Asmodeus's clutches. and Sammy went "I need you", as if he had ever cared abour Gabe till date. why give Gabe time to recover on his own speed, I need him right now after all, amirite? but ok only 'Dean was insensitive' lol
y'all keep speaking about Sam respecting others choices, but fact is he only does that when it is convenient for it, other times he manipulates people by hook or by crook to get them to do what he wants. but because he is soft spoken, all of that gets bypassed
I am not saying Sam doesn't have good qualities, he has a lot. but he isnt the second coming that a lotta peeps in the fandom and some in the writing room try to portray him as. he has his own flaws just like Dean, Cas and anyone else on the show does
Cas also has his share of flaws. and honestly, it's those that makes the characters real and relatable, "perfect" characters feel bland anf boring. I know though that it's not pleasant for stans, that's why I keep quiet. I wouldn't go at Sam either, if his stans didn't go at Dean
