Here’s my great idea for 2020! I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but all the book lists this time of year start me thinking of what to queue up for reading next year. I also have NO room for more books but want to support the writers, so here’s my great idea. #2020Reading
I read ~a book a week, let’s say 50/year. I’m adding those I want to read to my @sfpubliclibrary list. As I read them, I’ll think of someone who would like that book and buy them a copy at one of our local bookshops (I love introducing ppl to books, if you see one you want @ me).
I’ll buy a couple to keep for myself (I have to get to both @greenapplebooks & @omnivorebooks tomorrow, my last errands day of 2019, to pick up books on hold!) but for the most part, will buy & pass on. Most of what I read would categorize as literary fiction, the rest eclectic.
I'm going to track all the books I read on this thread. I just bought this for myself for Christmas and won’t start until mid-week so this will be my first book of 2020. Published ~20 years ago but have wanted to read for a while! #2020Reading
HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone interested in the history of LA and how the river played into that. Super well researched. I've been borderline obsessed with the river since I was a kid and this is the best book I've read on it. (Up for grabs!)
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous from Ocean Vuong was book #2 of the year. Beautiful book. Accidentally went several miles past my train stop one day when completely engrossed (then sat outside Trouble Coffee for 90 minutes and read some more).
Read this as a Library e-book and will buy a copy for the first person interested.
