A continuation of my The Untamed/CQL parallels thread, because I mentioned a friend once and it wouldn't stop mentioning her every time I added to the thread. 🙃
Lan Wangji: "Don't touch my headband."

Wei Wuxian: ☺️👆
Lan Wangji receiving punishment (i.e., getting whipped) for the things he has done for and because of Wei Wuxian.

Punishment by: Lan Qiren.

At least the first time, he had his Wei Ying by his side...

🥺
Lan Wangji immediately sensed Wei Wuxian's presence and rushed to clothe himself when they were teens.

Sixteen years later, even after noticing how close his lover was, Lan Wangji remained in the pond.

Almost as though he wanted to prove his love but didn't know any better way.
Let's just take a minute to appreciate panicked gay Lan Wangji and confident gay Wei Wuxian.
The way Lan Wangji and Jiang Yanli were the only two people in the world who could bring Wei Wuxian back when he fell into a fit of anger.

They were his true warriors. His strongest pillars. The two people he needed most.
Yep, I sure have posted this set before - and I'll do it a million times over.

The fear and sadness in both their eyes as they plead for Wei Wuxian's life.

The difference is, Lan Wangji is pleading to keep Wei Wuxian alive, while the latter is pleading for his own death.
A visual parallel - definitely not a situational one.

Still, it hurts all the same.

I can feel the weight of their love during these scenes. Both carry heavy hearts, and while Wei Wuxian is always ready to perish by his lover's hand, Lan Wangji cannot even bear the thought.
Lan Wangji did not expect his words to come back and haunt him like this. But he remembered Wei Wuxian's response: "You can't stop me anyway."

And that's why he refused to give up.

No matter how hard Wei Wuxian pushed him away, Lan Wangji was determined to pull him closer.
This really is so cute, though.

The way they both slowly enunciated when they realized the look of confusion on the other's face. 😂

* Note: "Suibian" means "whatever."
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji confiding in their older siblings will always make me feel a mixture of sadness and happiness... 🥺
Neither Lan Wangji nor Wei Wuxian really care when people have hurtful things to say to or about them. They listen, maybe make a face, and then shrug it off.

However, when it comes to each other, lines painted thinly should not be crossed.

(Sorry, Jiang Cheng...)
Just gonna add this one here if you need a good cry... https://twitter.com/dadguangjun/status/1212762358898147330?s=20
Listen, Lan Wangji holding onto his life while standing on that cliff is getting really fucking painful.
Heartbreaking when you realize Lan Wangji's pain does not come from the whip scars but from not being able to save Wei Wuxian - although you didn't hear it from me.
Wei Wuxian distancing himself from Lan Wangji physically, emotionally, mentally... 🥺

These were two of the saddest moments in their relationship. You could see the hurt they were both enduring simply because they were working so hard to keep each other safe.
Like father, like son.

Except add 100 gallons of sadness.

Neither Wei Wuxian nor Lan Sizhui could remember their early lives, but they were lucky to be taken into loving arms and nurtured into strong, amazing young men.
The first time Wei Wuxian says, "Let's go," Lan Wangji is dejected over the life he wants for himself and Wei Wuxian, yet he follows anyway.

The next time, he is distressed because despite wanting to follow Wei Wuxian, he knows what he needs to do to keep Wei Wuxian safe.
Another demonstration of Wei Wuxian's famous words:

"I always thought Jiang Cheng would stand by my side, and Lan Wangji would be on our opposite.

It never occurred to me things today would be a complete reversal of that."
Wei Wuxian wasn't wrong: His A-Yuan and his Lan Zhan are truly the goodest boys.
I love how everyone already knows this parallel so I'm not even responsible for pain or tears.

Although, I bet Lan Wangji thought back to this moment as a teenager A LOT after he lost Wei Wuxian.

Damning himself for not taking every opportunity to hold Wei Wuxian's hand.
Apparently, this rule doesn't apply to Wei Wuxian or Lan Sizhui.
"To come early is not as good as to come in time."

😊
They said having over-sized sleeves wouldn't do Lan Wangji any good.

They were right.

The sleeves only benefited Wei Wuxian.
A great symbol to show how Lan Wangji is always at Wei Wuxian's feet - an expression sometimes used to depict enchantment, respect, adoration, love.
