There's such a thing as learning and unlearning too fast. You can't learn without introspection and this takes time. You have to bed down the learnings, they have to clash with your world view before they can shift it.
This is how people who "learned" that it's not right to engage with female nudes shared without consent, couldn't transfer that learning to male nudes. They never really learned anything.
You make a mistake and get called out by the timeline. They tell you what you did was wrong, without neccesarily explaining the why.
Eager to please the crowd or perhaps just wary of their anger, you rush to accept their judgement. But now you can only mimic progressiveness, your movements are convincing in familiar contexts
But they lack the underlying empathy, and faced with new situations, especially one the timeline hasn't already discussed ad nauseam, you crack and the ugliness shows
I once saw a man proclaim that twitter is now progressive and not toxic like before... A few days earlier, he had mocked the disabled and gotten 1k RTs.
Practice empathy guys.
