19 things i learned in 2019: a thread.
1. It’s okay to be sad. Never deprive yourself from feeling; you’re not wrong for doing so. Let yourself be sad. You’ll feel much better when you’ve cried it all out.
2. With that however, don’t dwell in that sadness though. Once you’ve let it all out, collect yourself, and breathe. Remember that life goes on and so must you.
3. Never compare yourself to others. Everyone moves in their own pace. What applies to them sometimes doesnt apply to you and that’s okay. In time, you will get to where you will be soon. It might take time but that’s okay.
4. Don’t let the world pressure you to be someone you don’t want to be or do something you dont want to do.
5. At the same time, don’t turn away advices. keep them in mind, keep your options open, but at the end lof the day if your gut tells you ‘NO’ then maybe its not for you. You know yourself better than anyone else.
6. Trust your gut. that’s it.
7. Work hard but not too hard. You wont be productive with an overworked self. When it’s time to go home, get the fuck out of the office. 8. Dont take your one hour breaks for granted. Eat, sleep, breathe, relax. Use it. Don’t ever skip them.
9. Burn bridges in order for you to build new ones. You have to realize that in the long run, not everyone will stay, and not everyone is good for you.
10. Don’t hold any bitterness towards anyone. When you let go, let everything go. What good will that bitterness do to you?
11. You don’t have to react to everything and everyone. Sometimes your reaction isnt relevant to the situation, sometimes you’re not relevant to the situation. Keep your opinions to yourself especially when theyre not helpful.
12. It’s okay to be guarded. It’s okay to protect your heart. Open up when you want to. It’s okay to protect yourself from getting hurt especially when you know that’s where you’ll end up being.
13. However, Be Honest. Be Honest with yourself and with others especially when youre scared, youre hurt, or youre uncomfortable.
14. With Honesty comes communication especially when youre conveying your feelings. Communicate & Comprehend. Understand and Empathize. Talk and Listen.
15. Appreciate the small things like your days off, family dinners, funny conversations, the rain, traffic, the simple joys in life. It is then will you realize how blessed you are.
16. Count your blessings and be thankful.
17. Your days off are your days off. Use it!! Dont stress over work on your day off! My gosh. Youre not paid enough.
18. Treat yourself. You worked hard, you deserve to splurge on your loved ones and most of all yourself!! I cant stress this enough.
19. BE FEARLESSLY KIND. The world is a harsh place as it is and you dont know what people are going through so always be kind!
honorable mention: Allow yourself to love, be loved, and feel loved. Above all, dont forget to love yourself.
With all that’s been said and done, i am so over 2019 and ready for 2020. I will come into the new year equipped, excited, and wiser. Char daming hanash.
