I messed UP today - this is a thread so bear with me but I’m just glad to be sharing with y’all because at one point I feared for my life.

So today we were supposed to see #Hamilton at @ChryslerHall. I acquired the tickets weeks ago and was told “you’re set for December 21st.”
2/ the person I got the tickets from is a stand up guy and said “I’ve got the seats next to you.” Once I received the tickets I never looked at them and placed a hold on the shared calendar with my fiancé. Honestly, I got these tickets because I knew she wanted to see this show..
3/ DESPERATELY. So here I am, fiancé of the year. She’s been looking forward to this for weeks. So we make plans for dinner at 5:15 before the show. All is going to be well and I’m just winning, right?

I woke up this morning and planned to go to the office to get work done.
4/ the GA session starts soon so I need to try and tie up as many loose ends.m af the law office as I can. I get myself together to go downtown and say to myself “hmm, let me leave the tickets at home so I don’t forget them at the office.” At this point it’s noon...
5/ and fiancé is just lounging waiting to get ready. I look at the tickets and THE SHOW IS AT 2 PM NOT AT 7 PM as I assumed. At this point panic sets in because I can’t go tell her that we have to scramble and get out the door to be on time.

I share the news that it’s at 2 PM..
6/ and she’s like 🤯 😤 😡 because “I have to do my hair.” So she bolts up and says “if you want us to be on time you need to get your stuff and go downstairs.” So again, I’m freaking. True panic and adrenaline.

I race down stairs. Food is the way back into good graces.
7/ I search the fridge. It’s empty. I hit the freezer. I scream. There’s two frozen pizzas in there. Quelling hunger is key to getting through a sticky situation. I preheat the oven.

There’s a lot of commotion upstairs. A lot. I’m still scared. But alive.
8/ I see wine. I pour that too. If I deliver pizza and wine during this process I may survive. At this point it’s maybe 12:45. We must be out the door at 1:30 to get there on time.

Pizza is ready. I come bearing gifts. “I can’t eat it up here, I’m getting ready.” So we go..
9/ downstairs. At this point I’m watching the clock nervously but I’m not going to say “hurry up” because that’s how I get killed. Not much talking. She finishes. Goes back upstairs.

I ask for a ten minute warning to call the Lyft downtown. It’s met with an “ok.”
10/ I get the call to order the Lyft. I’m happy. It’s 1:30. We might make it. Order the Lyft and it zooms. We get in the car and conversation picks up.

Did we make it?
11/ Yes we did. Thank god. All for #Hamilton .

Lessons? 1) always look at the tickets for the show time; 2) make sure you have a frozen pizza in the freezer at all times.

So glad I checked the time. Imagine if we’d rolled up at 7 PM for the wrong show?
12/ HERE WE ARE. Thanks to @_MavisB for sticking with me in spite of my epic blunder. It’s showtime!

*fin*
13/ Bonus - just got the calendar alert for the time when I THOUGHT that we were supposed to be going to the show. We’re currently in a restaurant full of people who clearly looked at their tickets before the day of the show.

Happy to be alive ✌🏽
