Bambi!Hoseok
Bunny!Kook
"Next up, two men are being tried for aggravated assault and attempted murder against a female hybrid. Police received a chilling call from a family member near 10 o'clock at night and immediately responded. Last night, the two men were located and arrested, and are expecting
trial later on this weekend. Video evidence from the victim's home security camera reveals the act being committed and has been turned in to the police for further investigation. The victim was quickly transported to the hospital with...."
Seokjin released a long sigh, going back to stirring the batter with a shake of his head,"This world is going crazy. Ever since they've introduced hybrids to the population."
Decades ago, the world never imagined they would eventually coexist with other beings. It was just...humans and animals. That's what they all thought.

It started in other countries, the news spread about these strange humans appearing almost out of nowhere. They all had ears
and tails and extra limbs, like they were half animal and half human. Since they weren't fully human, scientists called upon themselves to name this group, Hybrids.

It was back in Seokjin's childhood when he saw the hybrids in his country slowly start to come out from hiding,
eager to be accepted by his people too. And it....it took a while.

While some places were more liberal and accepting to change, there were some people who wanted things to stay the way they were. Growing up, Seokjin saw these hybrids being mistreated, kicked out of places,
ignored, abused, murdered, kidnapped; no doubt life was tough for them.

He was sure that it was different in other countries. But as for his, the highest hybrids could ever reach was working minimum wage. Even that was an extremely rare case. Most stayed in nature or away from
the city, too afraid of the things that might happen to them.

The government finally stepped in, due to the justice of other world leaders, and gave the hybrids a few laws. Just a few. Enough to keep them alive but not enough to live in luxury. And with these laws, the majority
of police were able to turn their heads at the injustice being committed towards the hybrids.

"Maybe if they gave hybrids better laws. These poor people hardly have anything protecting them." Namjoon spoke up from the couch, frowning slightly as he typed away on his laptop.
"They don't," Seokjin grumbled, his grip on the spoon tightening out of anger, "And what's even more dissappointing is that humans would rather focus on the melting ice caps than the blatant discrimination happening ri-"
His small rant was interrupted by a certain bunny hybrid announcing his presence loudly.

"Morning Hyungs!"

"Ah, Jungkook-ah!" Seokjin startled, looking a bit flustered as his serious vent was cut off by none other than Jungkook.
Their adorable young roommate. Though, Seokjin loves to call Jungkook his child, which started as a joke and has stuck ever since. They met him under unfortunate situations, but don't regret a single second living with the hybrid.

It was around two years ago when they found him
lying on the side of the road. Namjoon, Seokjin and their other roommate ,Yoongi, were driving back from the grocery store one night, relaxed yet tired from a day of work.

It wasn't until they passed a body on the side of the road when their night suddenly
became "not-so relaxing" anymore. Because it wasn't just a roadkill animal that you glance at, feel some remorse for and move on. No this body had arms and feet, tiny human toes and fingers that were extremely visible when passing by. And a pair of ears.
It took them a second to register. If it was actually real or they were all just low on sleep to the point of hallucinating. Until Yoongi finally spoke up about what he saw, Jin pulled the car to the side of the road and slowly pulled it in reverse.
Urgently, they took the boy to the closest hybrid-compatible hospital. The hybrid looked like an 8 year old boy, who couldn't have been any taller than Seokjin's waist line. His features very boyish and delicate-looking, extremely young boy. And a pair of slick black bunny ears
laying by his head.

They waited till Jungkook woke up and learned that he: was in fact a rabbit hybrid, was 9 years old, and he was alone. After a stunt he pulled, his owner didn't want him anymore and dumped him off the side of the road one week ago.
They didn't bother pushing for a reason, but it still earned some frowns and head tilts. Obviously that he was alone, which was bad enough, but that he had an owner. Which probably meant that Jungkook came from a breeder who took the poor boy away from his mother the second he
was out. Or he may have been involved in the fighting ring, which they all doubt since the boy had no serious scars and wounds. The government created a law against these practices, but it only weeded out a few. Most of the illegal hybrid activity is more hidden and underground,
which is where Jungkook most likely came from.

After a small chat with Namjoon and Yoongi, they all agreed to allow Jungkook into their home. But only if Jungkook agreed himself, which to Seokjin's relief he did. They were very intent on emphasizing to Jungkook that under their
roof, he was no longer a pet but a roommate. And the smile they received in response made the small spark of love for the bunny grow even larger.

Namjoon's lips rose to a grin, his dimples showing in response of the bunny's energetic display. He ran a quick hand through
Jungkook's hair to ruffle it up a bit,"Morning Kook!...What's got you all dressed up like an Eskimo??"

Jungkook smiled, waving his professional camera slightly to show it off, "Well it snowed last night, so I wanted to take some pictures of it in the forest with my camera!"
He had such a beautiful passion for photography. It was unlike anything the three humans have ever seen, but they loved it. Once he got his hands on Namjoon's camera, he started snapping outstanding landscapes and sceneries. Some photos, they even framed and hung around the home.
Seokjin raised an eyebrow at that and asked, "And who's going with you? Because Namjoon and I certainly aren't dressed and ready for outside".
The bunny sensed Seokjin's incoming disapproval and brung his hand up to tug on his ear nervously, "Well...It was only gonna be real quick! I was gonna hop out, take a photo or two then head back in!"
"Absolutely not." Seokjin slightly frowned. The very thought of Jungkook traveling alone already makes him stressed, "Jungkook you know the rules. No-"

Jungkook sighed, his pout appearing as he softly whined, "Going out alone, I know hyung.
But we're literally right next to the forest! If anything happens, I can just sprint back here!"

"No means no, Jungkook."

"But hyung-"

"Kim Jungkook, what did I say?"

"I'll go with Jungkook." Namjoon spoke up.
It was as if the room was split between day and night, as he received Seokjin's heavy frown on one side and Jungkook's surprised yet bright smile on the other. It was worth it. He had a soft spot for the bunny.

Jungkook smiled, his bunny teeth peeking out as he squeaked
with newfound excitement, "For real?! You're the best, hyung! Thanks!"
Namjoon stumbled slightly as the bunny hopped to give him a hug, which he instantly returned without second thought, "Go wait for me on the back porch okay? I need a minute or two to get ready."
"Okay!" Jungkook beamed before skittering out towards the kitchen to the back door.

"Namjoon-ah..."

Namjoon smiled softly, walking up to his hyung and patting his arm as a way of comfort, "It'll be okay, hyung.
We'll just go down for 15 minutes, come back and I'll head straight to work. I'll just buy breakfast on the way."

Seokjin stared at Namjoon for a moment, until he finally gave in and sighed, "Alright..I'll have your stuff out and ready for when you come back.
Make sure you're quick about it though. And be safe out there... Don't go too far. Stay warm too! I don't need any more sick bodies in here!"

His hyung always had been such a worry wart. He would fret and stress over everybody else, and until they were all satisfied,
he would focus on himself. It made Namjoon's heart feel nice and warm.

"We'll be careful, Hyung..." Namjoon said, showing his dimples before asking,"You think you can make us some hot chocolate when we get back?"
"Yeah, yeah, okay. Two hot chocolates, and extra marshmallows for Kook. Hurry up and get ready! Jungkook's waiting for you." Seokjin shooed Namjoon with a wave of his spoon, causing the other to laugh and head to his room.

"Alright, alright, I'll go get ready."
Jungkook heaved in a deep breath of the cold, crisp air before letting it out as a sigh. He smiled brightly as his eyes stared at all the snow. The scenery was just so beautiful.
Light chirps and clicks from chickadees and cardinals traveled throughout the air, as they perched themselves on the driest branch. Tiny footprints from woodland creatures weaved themselves between the trees, leaving behind a trail from their scurrying.
And bright rays filtered through gaps from the thick canopy above, giving out a dim yellow aura.

"Its just soo pretty out here! The snow makes everything look fresh and soft!" Jungkook's eyes sparkled with mirth.
"Yeah, you're right."Namjoon smiled, watching the bunny twirl and hop around in all the new snow, "I can see why you wanted to get out here soo badly. The air is peaceful and quiet."

"Kinda makes me wish that I lived here instead.."Jungkook said, his smile turning a bit wistful.
Life out here would've been wonderful, Jungkook had no doubt. To be able to roam free in all of nature's glory, and not have the paranoia of being subject to the human's nefarious ways.

Jungkook knows for a fact, there are other hybrids that are strictly nature bound and don't
have contact with the humans at all. He wants to be like that and find more about himself than just being a captivated hybrid. He could finally meet others that were like him...but more authentic and true. They would teach him the ropes about being a real hybrid.
Namjoon glanced over at the bunny, who's smile had slowly disappeared and was replaced by a longing look. That wasn't the first time he's heard the bunny say that before. It was only said in front of him. Not infront of Seokjin or Yoongi. Just him.
And maybe it's because Jungkook finds their connection a bit special? That they both have this strong affinity for nature, but it's for different reasons. While Namjoon loves nature because of it's wonders and calming effects, he has an inkling
that Jungkook loves it because his deep roots are connected to nature itself. It makes him feel more real.

That's why Namjoon can't refuse the bunny's requests to go outside, because he would feel like he's denying Jungkook of who he really is.
And if he could let Jungkook go free, he would do it in a heartbeat. But he can't.

The world is still too cruel for hybrids, and to let Jungkook go would be equivalent to releasing a rabbit into a lion's den. Even with Namjoon and the others, Jungkook isn't completely safe.
"Jungkook ah?"

"..Yeah, hyung?"

"About earlier..." Namjoon started, " I know that sort of thing happens frequently, but please don't take it personally. Hyung only has the best in mind for you.."
Namjoon understands how Jungkook feels, but he can also see the reasoning behind Seokjin's word. Ever since Jungkook had opened up to them, his hyung sees Jungkook less as his roommate, and more as a brother or his child. Namjoon's seen the way
that Seokjin dutifully cares for Jungkook with a delicate, tender love in his eyes. He's opened up a space in his heart large enough to fit Jungkook. And if anything were to happen to Jungkook, that space would become empty and shatter his heart.
Namjoon glanced at the bunny, who was nibbling on his bottom lip, "We all do. All we want is your health and safety. Cause we love our precious bun so very much. And we want to see you achieve great things...you know?"
"So...should I go say sorry to Jin-hyung?" Jungkook mumbled from underneath his scarf. His small fingers idly thumbing and fiddling around with the camera's buttons. He looked a bit flustered, with the way his eyes looked at anything else but Namjoon.

"That's up to you, bun.
Whether you do or don't, I'm sure Jin still loves you the same." Namjoon gently patted the top of the bunny's locks. It was only a small dispute. There honestly wouldn't be a need for an apology, but if it made Jungkook feel better then Namjoon won't stop him.
There was a small hiatus of silence. Jungkook's thoughts running and scrambling from one place to another while Namjoon tuned in to the crunch of snow beneath them.

"With all those home baked desserts he gives you,
him being upset should be the least of your worries." Namjoon eventually added with a jovial grin. Usually Seokjin's jokes would lighten up the mood, but it's just him and Jungkook.
"Honestly, what's up with that? I remember Jin-hyung used to give me all of the samples to try."

Jungkook peered up at Namjoon, spotting his dimples before smiling himself. "That's cause I'm his official taste tester! He said so himself!" He said with his chest puffed in pride.
"He's supposed to- "

Their conversation went silent as Jungkook stopped mid step, going quiet all together. Namjoon looked back with slight confusion at the abrupt silence, assuming Jungkook was caught in a moment of inspiration and needed to take a picture of something.
But his camera wasn't up to his face. Instead the bunny's back was ramrod straight and his eyes were dilated and wide. It was like something had clicked. As if there was a predator lurking by and a freeze mode was activated.
"Bun, you okay?" Namjoon asked, worried at Jungkook's behavior. He's only seen this one other time, which was when Jungkook woke up in his hospital bed. Should...should he call Jin hyung?
"There's...something's there...it.. smells weird..." Mutterings spilled from his mouth as his eyebrows furrowed slightly, "Hyung..I-I'm gonna go check it out."
Namjoon's eyes widened in panic as he watched Jungkook dash forward, "W-Wait, Jungkook! Dont-! Stop!" He yelled, immediately running after the bunny.

It was almost as if Jungkook was in a trance, like something had forced him into this state. He said something about a smell.
Did a lingering scent from far away make him like this? Whatever it was, this wasn't Jungkook acting, but something else. Was it instincts?

His heart lurched itself into his throat as he saw Jungkook increase the distance between them. The bunny's intense speed and strong legs
were thanks to his base hybrid genes. Whatever was luring in Jungkook with its scent was definitely working. Namjoon had no way of telling what..or who Jungkook was barreling towards. If something happened to Jungkook under his watch, he would never be able to forgive himself.
There was a small hint of hope as he noticed the gap between them become smaller and smaller. Jungkook's strides were slowing down until he eventually came to a halt. Thank goodness. Namjoon was never the best at running, but he would run for days if it meant protecting Jungkook.
"Jungkook-" Namjoon rasps out, his hands going to his knees, eyes squeezing shut as he gasped for air, "Don't just dash off like that! Didn't we just talk about-"

"H-Hyung, blood..."

His eyes snapped open. Blood? Did Jungkook hurt himself already? He's not bleeding is he?
Namjoon quickly scanned over Jungkook's form until he spotted something not too far away.

He had been so concerned with Jungkook, he hadn't even noticed the bloodied body lying two feet away.
"They smell b-blood...like blood...T-They're blue..'n pale, Hyung...There's so much blood..." The bunny whispered, covering his nose from the putrid, sharp scent of iron.

Namjoon stared down in horror, silently hissing through his teeth.

"Crap."
