These problems are of your own making.
Ignored the fundamentals.
Reform & detoxify education.
In 5 years you would have had an entire generation that would have read history, not poison, in schools.
They'd have become a crore+ defenders of the nation.
Instead you wasted 5 years.
You sidelined, ignored, belittled RW academics.
You stuffed ministries & edu institutions with your toadies - intellectual pygmies.
Forget acknowledging legitimate concerns, you set your pack dogs against them.
Now it's become an ego issue for you.
6 wasted years & counting.
Without truth & facts with them, school children become fodder for the fiends, like you see today.
Some of them will grow up to be the archetypal "useful idiots".
Some will grow up to as self-loathing, Hindu-hating Hindu.
They will pass on this mental servitude on to their kids.
Students look around and see #UrbanNaxals leftists controlling educational institutions - EVEN AFTER 6 YEARS.
They see no RW intellectuals within the govt.
They assume, therefore, that either the govt agrees with the leftists, or that there is no such thing as an RW intellectual.
The beauty of teaching students facts and detoxified history is that it is a permanent and irreversible thing.
Once they learn true history, you can't go back in time and undo that.
This is how you build a tsunami of awareness against #UrbanNaxals and render them irrelevant.
Asking parents to teach real history to their kids is a cop-out for 2 reasons:
1. It is the government's failure to continue with a toxic curriculum.
2. Parents want a bright future for their children. Asking them to take on the burden of teaching history is patently unfair.
Students do not pay attention to history in school?
Simple test - how many adults know the names of Mughal emperors versus the Cholas or Chalukyas.
The imprinting is subtle and permanent.
Detoxification in adult years is uncertain, long, and often painful.
Is detoxification all that is needed? No.
Would it solve all problems? No.
But it would be substantial & irreversible.
It would be a change on a civilizational scale.
Doing one thing does NOT mean NOT doing others - as the hon'bl home minister told everyone a few days back.
Some have raised the very valid point that it is the parents' responsibility inculcating values in their children.
Yes, but also understand the power of the "default". Read about the "default effect" and "switching costs".
Change the "default" - presently the toxic syllabi.
Now let's look at the Class X Social Science textbook, prepared by the NCERT, and in circulation since 2006.
Pick two names from the Textbook Development Committee: Tanika Sarkar and Janaki Nair.
And now let's see some of their noble thoughts.
Tanika Sarkar:
"partition time rapes of Hindu women" are "legends"
Muslims breaking temples are mere "assertions"
"partition time rapes of Hindu women" are "legends"
"rapes of Hindu queens under Muslim rule" are "legends"
Janaki Nair, on the NCERT Textbook Development Committee for Class X History, on Tipu Sultan:
He implemented "far sighted economic measures".
He was a "moderniser"
He was a "nationalist"
His "undoubted support of temples and mathas"
intolerance of "unbelievers" was "exaggerated"
Just a small sample of the poison spit by just two people who have written the toxic sludge that your children are taught, made to memorize, and then regurgitate.
Tens of lakhs of children.
Every year.
Accepted by the BJP since 2014. With pride.
