Thread: The True Meaning of Seal of Prophethood

Anti Ahmadis raise the allegation that Ahmadi Muslims do not believe in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the Seal of All Prophets. Nothing could be further from the truth.

All Ahmadi Muslims hold this beautiful belief.
If you want to learn about the true beliefs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the Seal of the Prophets, you should read the beautiful words of the Imam Mahdi Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad عليه السلام
In reality, this topic is only used as an excuse by the anti Ahmadis to avoid the real differences between us. Their own scholars accept that our difference is not on the Seal of Prophethood. The other Muslims themselves await a Prophet today for the revival of Islam
The real difference is on the identity of the Messiah.

Would the latter day Messiah be Isa عليه السلام of 2000 years ago or a blessed individual from the ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

The Truth:Isa(as)has died a natural death and will never return. Our Messiah was to be from us
The difference is not on the belief of Seal of Prophethood. Other Muslims believe Prophethood is open themselves.

The difference is we accepted the latter day Messiah while they rejected him. They will keep waiting. All signs have been fulfilled.
Chapter 33 Verse 40 is in favor of the Ahmadi Muslims.

Allah Uses a rule of لكن للاستدراك

The Seal of Prophets must refer to the rank of the Prophet ﷺ since the previous statement negates his physical fatherhood. The next statement must affirm his fatherhood in some way.
According to Arabic, when the word Khatam is used in a genitive construct case for a group, and it relates to a title of rank, it refers to superiority and authority.

This is how the Prophet ﷺ himself used this word.

It doesn't mean last in time in such cases.
The word خاتم when used for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also refers to his great rank and superiority. This includes him being the last law bearing Prophet as well.

This verse does not close the door to sub ordinate Prophethood.
There are four main meanings of this verse. The Holy Qur'an has never closed the door of Prophethood within Islam. The only Prophethood which is closed till the day of Judgement is independent Prophethood or law bearing Prophethood. Prophethood within the ummah is a blessing.
The view of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is exactly what our beloved Prophet, Hadhrat Muhammad ﷺ taught. He ﷺ himself prophesied a Prophet for this ummah and made it clear that such prophethood is not against the Islamic teachings.
The blessed companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also had the same view as the Ahmadi Muslims. All companions knew the latter day Messiah would be a Prophet and knew Hadhrat Isa(as) has died.

Here are the blessed words of Hadhrat Aisha (ra)
The classical Muslim scholars held the same view as the Ahmadi Muslims hold today. They believed that Prophethood within the ummah is open but independent prophethood and law bearing prophethood is terminated. Will the anti Ahmadis call their own scholars disbelievers as well?
Here is a video of Shaikh Abdur Raheem, one of the most famous Khatme Nabuwat scholars in the UK accepting the true view of Seal of Prophets. He accepts that even if the Prophet was not the last in time, he would be the Khatam (he accepts it means best)
Some ignorant anti Ahmadis raise the allegation that some qira'at of the Qur'an use the word Khatim (with a kasra) instead of khatam and that this can only mean last. This is false. Both are used synonymously and Ahmadi Muslims accept both.
Hadhrat Ali (ra) preferred the Qira'at with Khatam (fatha on ت) over Khatim (kasra on ت) since he knew that some would misinterpret the verse in the future. This is why he instructed Qur'an teachers to teach the Qur'an by reciting Khatam with a fatha and not with a kasra.
Some present Lisanul Arab which says Seal of Prophets can mean the Last.

Ahmadi Muslims accept the Prophet(sa) as the last law bearing Prophet. This is how he (sa) himself interpreted the title of "Last Prophet".

Secondly, last in Arabic also refers to great status.
Muslims are following a mistake made by the early generations. Jews and Christians fell into this same mistake.

As for thirty liars coming, the Prophet ﷺ limited them to thirty and that number was fulfilled long before the Messiah.

Hadhrat Ahmad (as) is the true claimant
Conclusion:

Excuse:Hadhrat Isa(as) was an old Prophet

The question is not about new or old. It’s Is there a need for prophethood or not?

Muslims agree that there is a need. Difference is only on identity.

Their contradictory view can be understood with this example of rice
