If your opinion is anything along the lines of "Pro contact and anti contact MAPs should get along and form one unified community" I 100% disagree with you. They share some ideals in common but the fact that pro contact MAPs advocate for child/adult sex can't be ignored.
Both groups want minor attraction to be destigmatized and for all MAPs to have better access to support. However, on top of that, pro contact MAPs tack on the goal of making child/adult sexual relationships more accepted in society. This is not ok and should not be tolerated.
One of the main goals of most of the MAP community and something that will help create wider acceptance of MAPs is letting the world know that many MAPs do not have sex with children or think that children can consent to sex with adults. Pro contact views get in the way of that.
Yes, many pro contacts genuinely believe that child/adult sex is not inherently dangerous, so they believe they are not advocating for child abuse and that the world just isn't yet "open minded" enough to accept the idea that child/adult sex is sometimes ok.
Still, regardless of what they think and feel they are doing, they are still advocating for something very dangerous that would lead to more harm than good. But the fact that many don't have malicious intent and truly believe what they say is not an excuse.
It does not make sense to say that anti contact MAPs should tolerate pro contact MAPs being apart of the same cause and community when their ideals and beliefs directly clash against one another. There is no compromise when one advocates for something the other is against.
This is not to say that pro contact MAPs should be treated like monsters - saying they should be ostracized from the world as a whole or have violence committed against them makes you no better than anti MAPs who say the same things about MAPs in general.
But, you can still argue against and hate their views, this is not the same thing as dehumanizing them. You can have basic respect for someone as a person while still being against their cause and not wanting to associate with them.
Forming one unified community of MAPs does not make sense when some believe in harmful ideologies that clash with one of the main messages MAPs are trying to give and will only make it more difficult for MAPs to become more accepted.
