Mute this thread if you don't want to know but I'm going to use it to recommend movies whenever I think of one and I get all overcome with joy or excitement just thinking about it. I'm starting with Peter Chelsom's Funny Bones.
Roy Rowland and Stanley Kramer's The 5000 Fingers of Dr T, the only feature film written by Theodor Geisel.
Jan Sverak's Kooky.
This is what I want from Brendan Fraser. Fantastic cinematography by John de Borman.
Everything by Bill Forsyth brings me some sort of... erm... comfort and joy, even when it promises another feeling altogether. Local Hero is probably the best (?) but here's my favourite of his films.
Very possibly where the compulsion to put ambulances into so much of my writing comes from.
I don't naturally listen as much as I should, so I try really, really hard to do it as much as I can.
I don't mean listen to that song. I mean listen. To what people are saying. To what other people are not quite managing to say. To what other people mean.
