Thread: the following is a breakdown of Obama & his self-reported progress with American Descendants of Slavery. I've had people attempt to use Obama's White House press releases to defend Obama's record with #ADOS. There is no defense.

1/n
Below is the White House release titled "Creating Opportunities for All Americans: Obama Administration’s Record and the African-American Community (2/04/16)"

2/n
Below is the White House release titled "Progress of the African-American Community During the Obama Administration (10/14/16)"

3/n
We're going to go through them both one-by-one (his second White House press-release mirrors much of his first one tho). But before we begin I have to remind y'all that we voted Obama in office: 95% Democratic in 2008 and 93% Democratic in 2012.

4/n
Also need to remind you that Obama entered office with Cloture 👇🏿. Democrats could've passed any legislation they wanted to.

5/n
Also need to remind you that Obama is more than capable of passing race/ethnic specific policy. See my thread on his executive order for economic empowerment of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) 👇🏿

Staring with his 02/04/16 release. The first sentence of the first paragraph includes "hard work & responsibility are rewarded" as if we don't work hard.

7/n
Unemployment rate doesn't account for (1) full time vs part-time (2) underemployment (3) cessation of job search despite needing work (4) context. Many of the "jobs" created under Obama are gig-jobs like Uber and Lyft which aren't careers and lack financial stability.

8/n
Obama did expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) & the Child Tax Credit (CTC) but he passed an $8.7B cut in food stamp benefits resulting in 850K households loosing $90/month.

A quick aside: that food stamp cut was apart of a 2014 farm bill.

9/n
Regarding farming, in 2010, Obama signed a $1.5B settlement for a discrimination claim between Black farmers & the Department of Agriculture. That claim also included a $3.4B settlement for Native Americans (🙄). The $1.5B (50K/claimant) was a slap-in-the-face.

10/n
#ADOS have lost an estimated total of 12 million acres of farm land due to America's history of racism and domestic terrorism (👇🏿); a $50K settlement is nothing!

11/n

One Million Black Families in the South Have Lost Their Farms https://eji.org/news/one-million-black-families-have-lost-their-farms/
Rewarding married couples sounds like a republican talking point 🤷🏾‍♂️

12/n
Obama's record with HBCUs is dismal. Click on the images to read how vital Pell Grants are to #ADOS and HBCUs.

13/n
In 2009, Obama did not renew the $85M earmarked for HBCUs by his predecessor Bush (you read that correctly). It was another year before it was renewed. And an estimated 28K HBCU students lost their Parent Plus loans due to stricter loan requirements. Obama even wrote...

14/n
a policy calling for free tuition for community colleges and only included HBCUs in that policy after HBCU presidents lambasted him and threatened to sue him.

Note: Pell Grants are not the same as Parent Plus loans and fully funded HBCUs is not #Reparations2020

15/n
Self-explanatory 👇🏿

16/n
Obama should've been dragged for attempting to pass off his "success" with #ADOS housing. Click on the pictures to see how HAMP was an abject failure.

Note: As HAMP failed, TARP gave an estimated $29T to Wall-street. #Reparations2020 is estimated at $6 - $17T.

17/n
Self-explanatory

18/n
SBA loans fell from 8.2% (Bush) to 1.7% (Obama) partly because banks wanted to make larger loans and Black business typically take out loans at $150K or less whereas banks wanted to loan out at approx $500K. My brother's keeper was an unfunded charity.

19/n
Now onto the 10/14/16 release. Again, "hard work" mentioned in the opening paragraph. 🙄.

And yes, the poverty rate did fall in '15 & #ADOS did experience growth. But click on the third picture for proper context.

20/n
I can do whole 'nother thread on healthcare (it's extensive). But note that the ACA allowed children to stay on their parents health insurance longer which may account for the increased rate of insured non-elderly ADOS & our life expectancy needs to be placed into context.

21/n
Don't have much to say about the picture on the left and the information on the right has already been addressed.

22/n
It is true that incarceration rate for #ADOS fell under Obama and that he extensively used his clemency powers. But I want y'all to see how messed up his criminal record is for #ADOS compared to white America.

23/n
In 2010, Obama passed "The Fair Sentencing Act" which reduced the crack to powder cocaine sentencing disparity from 100:1 to 18:1 & not the bill's intended 1:1. The act was also not retroactive. Keep in mind that crack - & the '94 Crime Bill - destroyed ADOS communities!

24/n
Opioid addiction overwhelmingly affects white America & '16 Obama passed the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA). The CARA is a MASSIVE legislation. Think about it. Not only did Obama create more white millionaires but he stabilized white America and ensured...

25/n
that opioid addiction wouldn't destroy white America in the same fashion that crack did to #ADOS. Again, read the underlined portions of the above breakdown of the CARA. And also note that Obama's ACA was amended to require insurance companies to treat addiction. 👇🏿

26/n
Self - explanatory.

27/n
Just wanted to point out that in the second picture "African-American" data is disaggregated.

28/n
So, there you have it. We got nothing. We voted Obama into office at approx 94%, he had cloture, he used our lineage as cover and he provided absolutely no specific policy or direct financial assistance to #ADOS.

We need not make the same mistake in 2020.

29/29

END THREAD
Here's the link to the summary of the CARA (👇🏿). Not sure if the image I posted in the 25th tweet is going to render better or not.

CARA screenshot broken up into three pictures.
Don't mean to focus too much on CARA but I just want to get the point across that the CARA was both massive and for white America. Looking back it's ridiculous that Obama wasn't dragged for absolute filth when he signed it.
Broke up the image in the 20th tweet.
