Alright, so this rant will be kinda lengthy, but I feel like it's necessary. I've just been thinking about Twitter, Eminem, hip-hop in general... And also considering some recent discussions I've had with people, I feel like this needs to be said. If no one else, will, I will.
A lot of my frustration comes from hip-hop Twitter. I know this has been said before, but they just talk about the same old shit. MBDTF, TPAB, Illmatic, Kendrick, Kanye, Tyler, Earl, Eminem, SRS... These discussions are so old.
And yet none of this energy goes to the underground artists who work their asses off and provide consistently amazing content. Why? I know that these big pages know about their music. It's cuz that's not what gets likes, RTs, or followers. Let's take Slaughterhouse as an example.
Barely anyone talks about Joell Ortiz or KXNG Crooked. Joe Budden as an MC is mad underrated. And the few times I see Royce come up is in comparison to Eminem. Individuals might discuss these artists, but I haven't seen any big pages talking about them, save for Budden sometimes.
And even when Joe comes up in discussion, it's almost always media Joe. I get that's who he is currently, but people forget he used to be an elite MC.

And it's not just Slaughterhouse. Many underground MCs go unspoken in favor of the big names, cuz big names bring big numbers.
Can we really say that we are for the culture when we don't take a stand for the smaller artists? How in the world are we ignoring what people like KXNG Crooked are doing? 2 EPs, a song a week, and Crook's Corner featuring 10 episodes on HipHopDX interviewing other names in rap.
We gotta do better. The underground is flourishing more than ever, and this would be the worst time to ignore it. Please, push these artists, aggressively if you have to. With the same energy that y'all have for praising Kanye or clowning Eminem, or whatever y'all might be doing.
This is a call to my followers, the big pages, & ANYONE reading this. Give the underground a chance. Discuss them more, post their music. Stop with the comparisons, slander, & stale discussions. Bring some fresh shit to the timeline. Forget the numbers. This is about the culture.
If I feel like more needs to be said, I'll add it to this thread later, but for now, this is my call to action. I'd appreciate y'all if you could like and retweet it. Let's make a change. It's never too late.
