So I get people curious as to why/how I, as a white person, can connect so deeply and emotionally to @rapsody & her lyrics- so I wanted to make a thread to explain.

I come from a blended family, I was raised with a father who is of color, a black man, a native man. I have two younger siblings who are his blood children, my half siblings. This man happens to be an Evans, directly related to beautiful Marlanna Evans. @rapsody
& Damn those Evanâs genes are
. I see so much of my beautiful younger sister in @rapsody, it makes my heart throb.
But, for as long as I can remember my baby sister never felt beautiful. Never felt pretty. When I was younger I couldnât understand it-

- She has such beautiful hazel eyes, kinky curly hair, freckles across beautiful brown skin, full lips and the aura to light up a room. Why didnât she see what I saw? But as I got older, in our rural KY/TN area, I learned why she didnât feel beautiful- and it sickened me.
Today my beautiful sister is a person of color struggling to fit into the goth community- and I donât think I even have to explain why.

When I see my beautiful cousin, a beautiful Evans woman, rise so high & preach so loud, it makes my soul ache with love and pride. @rapsody

When I see my beautiful cousin, a beautiful Evans woman, rise so high & preach so loud, it makes my soul ache with love and pride. @rapsody
& with this new album Eve.. it really speaks to that for me even more so. @rapsody brings all women with her to the top. She gives my sister the throne she deserves. All women their thrones. Her lyrics are forged in strength and emotion. So blessed to experience them

I could go on and on honestly, about reasons I love @rapsody & what her music means to me, but weâll leave it at this for now.
Yâall go check out Eve, you wonât regret it.

*And @rapsody isnât âthe best female rapperâ sheâs the best MC hands down
