discworld is wild because it's a silly comedy series but the morals of the books are things like
"war is just one symptom of the disease that is nationalism"
"police by consent is the only possible moral form of policing"
"late-stage capitalism is the death knell of society"
other discworld morals:
"monarchy is a disease and inherently unjust"
"ISPs are strangling communication for capitalist gains"
"much of the nature of power is an illusion created by those who desire to maintain it"
"wouldn't it be fucked up if a suitcase had legs"
"tech development without consideration of ethics leads to monstrous societal shifts"
"austerity cuts lead to mass chaos, especially among those who are already marginalized"
"the military is a meat grinder for marginalized people with no other options"
"destroy a shopping mall"
"guns are a nightmare we refuse to wake up from"
"institutional sexism is bad for everyone"
"insurance fraud is both fun and easy"
Im not gonna say that his politics were perfect, or that he never fucked up, but his body of work showed a person who legitimately cared about others and by and large made efforts to grow from past mistakes. That's the important part to me.
