The particular amino acid composition in the ApoB moiety of the LDL particle causes the ApoB to uniquely bind to intimal proteoglycans due to its particular polarity. 2/2 If you supply high levels of native LDL particles with the normal, human ApoB moiety, rodents get CVD rapidly. If you swap out two amino acids in the ApoB moiety, no amount of ApoB causes CVD. @POhukainen shared the papers a while ago and could probably re-link them here.
