Re: #Kamala’s abrupt suspension of her campaign, right before the big debate: After sleeping on it & mulling it over with @OPCGhost, I’m convinced that she made a deal, and that what we’re gonna see is #BidenHarris.

1/ First, the Harris campaign was out of money. I got the increasingly desperate fundraising emails from Kirsten Gillibrand when that campaign was flailing, and lately, Kamala’s had taken on a similar tone. I assumed this was just fundraising-speak, but clearly it was not.
2/ It must be disheartening to see egomaniacal billionaires parachute into the race with limitless resources rather than set up super PACs to elect Kamala. Her grassroots support is real.

But you can’t win without the Almighty Dollar, and the campaign was broke.
3/ Lawrence O’Donnell’s tweet crystallizes the harsh realities of the economics at work here: https://twitter.com/Lawrence/status/1201936420430077952
4/ “But why would Joe choose Kamala, after she came at him so hard in the first debate?”

Guys, it’s politics. ALL politicians go at each other in primary debates. Then they join forces and run together.
5/ Biden knows he’s the frontrunner. He knows most of his popularity derives from his friendship with Obama. He also knows he’s an old white guy who likely won’t run again. His VP would be the Democratic frontrunner in 2024.
6/ There were rumors months ago that Joe had reached out to Stacey Abrams to be his VP. Maybe he was just considering it. Either way, this gives us some inkling into where his head’s at. Kamala would be a formidable VP.
7/ Sidenote: Knock this shit off about Harris as AG. That’s a demotion from her current gig. Has anyone gone from US AG to the White House? Like, ever?
8/ The timing is strange, to be sure, with the debate on the horizon. Maybe Joe makes this announcement at the debate? Maybe Kamala endorses him right before or right after? Either way, he would go into Iowa/Nevada/SC with a popular #2.
9/ #BidenHarris would be a law-and-order ticket, and it would guarantee that the election was a referendum on Trump—which is what it needs to be. Joe would finally be president, and Kamala may well wind up in the White House before 1/20/25.
10/ By the end of February, the larks (Tulsi, Yang, MW) will be done, and so will Bernie, whose campaign is also quietly shutting down offices left and right. I love Amy, but I don't see a path to her beating Biden/Harris.
11/ The two oligarchs will piss their money away till the bitter end, despite bad numbers, until we get to read stories about what ungodly sum of money they paid for each vote.

That would leave Warren, Mayor Pete, and the Big Ticket.
12/ Biden/Harris would also be a good ticket if & when the GOP dumps Trump and runs Pence or Nikki Haley—my big fear, as readers of this space well know. The VP is traditionally the attack dog of the ticket. Kamala can do that in her sleep.
Again: I would have been much happier with Kamala at the top of the ticket, but if this is how it plays out, I’m down. Trump must be defeated, Biden/Harris would accomplish that—and set us up beautifully for the future.

WE SHALL PREVAIL!
