I need to make a thread about this because I’ve recently had my mind changed about this situation: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will never succeed at Manchester United. Not because he’s shit, and I’m not necessarily Ole out, but there’s issues within the club that mean it’s hard for (1)
Any manager to come in and make a change. For starters, if we stick with Ole until the end of the season, we’ll most likely finish 14-7th. How are we then supposed to attract the top level players to come play for us. For example, Maddison, Partey and Sancho are names that (2)
Get thrown about a lot. Why would we attract Sancho more than Real Madrid, or Liverpool or Barcelona? Why would Maddison leave title challenging Leicester for mid-table United? We can only pull the history card so many times, and the only other option is to throw money at it. (3)
Will the Glazers spend the £250m in one summer to genuinely improve us? I don’t think so. And not many elite players look at their careers and think ‘I need to be managed by Solskjaer and play with Fred and Andreas Pereira.’ Man United are no longer an exciting prospect for (4)
Elite level players. Therefore, we can’t get the calibre of players we need to compete with Liverpool and City.
I need to make this clear: I’m not Ole Out yet. I’m fine with the idea of him being a transition manager, but I think we’ve seen enough to know he isn’t (5)
Going to win us a Premier League. When City and Liverpool’s cycle comes to an end, Chelsea and Leicester will pounce on that, not us. We’re in this for the long haul, and the loss of our sparkle and poor ownership means that Ole sadly will not be successful at MUFC. (6)
We have the basis of a squad. DDG, AWB, Maguire, Pogba and Rashford are the players I think would fit into a title winning team. With Pogba most likely on the way out, that leaves us bare of true quality. Some issues could be sorted by the youth (Greenwood, Axel, Brandon) (7)
But there is no guarantee of this. We are £500-600m away from being title challengers, and the board won’t spend this, and the players won’t come under OGS. Maybe it’s the smart thing to bring in Pochettino, or give a chance to someone like Eddie Howe, but I think Ole’s (8)
Days are numbered, especially if we lose to both Spurs and City. But maybe it’s the kick up the arse the ownership and board need.
Like all fans, I just want us to get back to where we belong, and sadly I think Ole won’t be the man in charge when we get there.
