Imagine the desperation of a person being forced to use a NARWHAL TUSK because there was nothing else available.

I'd love to secretly poll everyone there and ask them if they wished they'd had a pistol.

Today I saw lots of comments about mass shootings in the US.
Guess how many mass shootings we had in our entire history before 1963?

One.

September 6, 1949, in Camden, New Jersey. The guy who did it was completely insane. Look at his face.
The cops who arrested him were deeply traumatized because THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.
The reason we have so many mass shootings now is very simple:

Deinstitutionalization of the severely mentally ill, which began in 1963 with the Community Mental Health Act.

So the claim that gun availability is to blame is not accurate.
In the US, we shut down the state and federal psychiatric hospitals, and we made it legally impossible to commit the severely mentally ill against their will.

THAT is the cause of mass shootings.

We have proof: only one mass shooting in US history before 1963.
Gun ownership should be subjected to a cost-benefit analysis.

How many lives are saved by guns, versus how many lives are taken?

Here's something non-Americans may not appreciate:

Most Americans can't depend on the police to save us.
The police don't do their jobs, or the police are overwhelmed, or we live too far away from police stations.

Nothing is clear cut. We can't compare British culture to American, and we can't compare London to most American towns or cities.
Where I live, we're overwhelmed with the severely mentally ill homeless.

Almost every time I leave my house, a mentally ill homeless person confronts me.

One actually identified my car, found where I live, and tried to kick down the door.
Luckily I had more than a NARWHAL TUSK to defend myself.

The mentally ill homeless person camped out in my back yard without me knowing and spent several days trying to get in my house at night.

I called the police twice.
The first time, they took so long to arrive that the homeless person escaped.

The second time, the police AGAIN took so long to arrive that the homeless person began to leave, so I went out and followed.
The police told me to stay in my house, but I ignored them.

When the police arrived, I told them that the homeless person was hiding on the front porch of the house next door.

"How do you know?" a cop asked.

I had to browbeat them into looking.
So we can't compare the UK and the US.

Americans are far more on our own than Brits. We're also living in a country that doesn't protect us against the severely mentally ill.

I myself own firearms, but I didn't even pick one up when the homeless lunatic was kicking my door.
When I went outside to find the homeless lunatic, I didn't take a firearm.

The problem in the US isn't guns; it's the fact that we refuse to treat the severely mentally ill.

And there's something else.
We were told that legalizing drugs would reduce crime.

Guess what?

The Mexican cartels are now growing marijuana in California. Drug-related violence is GOING UP.

Cartel members will kill anyone who approaches their marijuana patches.
It's frustrating to see people clinging to ideas that are utterly fictitious.

The solutions offered will only make the problems worse.

I reserve the RIGHT to own firearms to defend myself.

That doesn't mean that BRITS must own firearms.
But the terrorist was killed with a firearm.

Not a narwhal tusk.

Americans trust themselves with firearms. And we ARE trustworthy.

Only one mass shooting in our history before 1963.
Destructive social engineering by our government means that Americans become LESS safe, not more.

The answers to our problems are quite simple.

I expect these answers to be implemented in the coming years.
