Author of this article has zero knowledge of jet engines, but has nevertheless used wrong information to sensationalize news cause why not.
Here's a bit of info about flying an Airbus A320, the way Airbus designed and wants you to fly it. https://twitter.com/anuragkotoky/status/1200326417994485760
1. For Takeoff, an iPad with an Airbus application takes in parameters of the departure airfield, such as winds, available runway length, temp, pressure and the take off weight. It then provides something called flexible takeoff thrust...
... in cases where the aircraft's weight and runway length permitting, the use of max takeoff thrust is not needed, but all climb gradients are still met. This conserves the life of an engine. 95/100 times, flex takeoff is used.
Airbus says that passing at least 400 feet on takeoff, pilots are to move the the thrust levers from the takeoff position to the climb position. All A320 pilots religiously follow this, unless there is something abnormal with the weather ahead or with the aircraft.
Once the thrust levers are moved to the climb position, the computers on the aircraft takeover the thrust setting. The next time the pilot even touches the thrust lever will be on landing, when they are brought back to idle at around 30 feet from the ground.
So no, we don't "press the accelerator and revv the engines" as pointed out by this article. The computers of the A320 make sure the engines ONLY operate up to what they are designed for. They DO NOT let the engines exceed parameters.
Alt Climb, as pointed out in the article is something like a software update for the computers managing the engines. Whether Alt Climb is installed or not, the computers managing the engines operate strictly within Airbus parameters.
The Airbus A320 has a high degree of automation installed. Pilots CANNOT exceed the max speed even if they want to. Pilots do not climb to the cruising level any quicker than ATC wants them to, owing to traffic. If I increase my climb any more than needed, the...
... traffic collision avoidance system will trigger on my aircraft and surrounding aircraft in vicinity, leading to an inquiry by DGCA.

Thanks for reading. That news article should have been fact checked.
