Dad has nvr been particularly religious I wasn't raised baptist & tbh he would do crosswords or zone out during boring presby church, but he went through phase when I was like 9-10 wher he prayed before work evry day & image of him n full suit on knees was burned in my tiny brain
Dad in full power suit red tie about to jump n V8 blak sedan with Car Phone to go to Tall Office Tower and Run Things, but I had to be quiet n stay at top of stairs cause it was praying time n living room. That right there establishes God's place at top of hierarchy, implicitly.
I have no idea if he even remembers going through this phase. Unless he went to stealth praying mode it didn't continue into teenage years. He was never even much for wanting to be the one to say grace a family dinners. You never know what going to impact ur kids.
I think impactful because kids are not dumb. If you are only pious at church they will known its a formality or performative. If ur taking time to pray alone silently on a weekday as something that takes precedent over going to make money, they will know the difference.
Maybe in a way dad being indifferent towards the boring (and objectively lame) NIV presbyterian sermons but acknowledging God's existence irl put in my subconscious that truth is out there but not from the fancy seminary nerd in the robe and tassels.
Obviously it would have been better for me to be raised in a real church and then I could have skipped a lot of dumbass decisions and growing pains over the next couple decades but hey it worked out I got saved by online preaching then went and got dunked.
First Baptist sermon I watched was in 2009 Pastor Anderson screaming about Barney Frank being a f*88ot and how the government is run by f*ggts and I was like .... "uhhh... are you allowed to do this at church? because this is lit."

Took a couple more yrs to actually click tho
I stayed in and out of presbyterian services out of vague duty that I knew you were supposed to go to church and stay in fellowship with believers but I was also still a party animal so there was a lot of cognitive dissonance until I actually got born again
Back n ~1930s Southern Baptists started gettin liberal n a lot of old pastors got concerned n pushed back, mny eventually left SBC, began movment of independent fundamental baptists not linked by formal association. Anderson preaches nothing new he's the 3rd/4th Gen of modern ifb
A typical story of a preacher leaving SBC is Lester Roloff:

"Roloff preached stridently against homosexuality, communism, television, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gluttony, and psychology. His strong stands led to disagreements with most of his Southern Baptist brethren. In 1956...
... after giving a speech at his alma mater Baylor University criticizing denominationalism, Roloff broke with the SBC and joined the Independent Baptist movement."

Same with J. Frank Norris,

"In the late 1930s, Norris organized a group of independent, premillennial Baptist churches ... in an attempt to combat what he believed were socialist, liberal, and 'modernist' tendencies within the Southern Baptist Convention. "

There's always been independent baptists but since there's no central planner it goes through different manifestations through history, the modern movement is most directly tied with the crop of men who left the SBC to preserve core beliefs of the faith.
The so-called "New IFB" continues this tradition but with the distinction of taking a hard line against zionism and re-emphasizing all the old controversial doctrines that tend to slacken when churches become large, established, and comfortable (as happened in the 80s-90s).
If you're drowning in sin and you know the gold robes and candles are curing the problem, or if your just curious to learn history of a movement that is outside anything taught in history books or popular media ...
Also, lol at sissy preachers who think hard preaching pushes ppl away. Young men are getting memed into weird EO or RCC because society is collapsing and they want smthing they perceive as upholding standards, n will evn do intellectual backflips in face of clear Bible to get it.
