So, here's a recap of the last few days in #China and #Canada relations news; A Hong Kong politician said Trudeau needs his head examined for his silence on the city's turmoil. A former CSIS head says Ottawa has failed abominably on its China policy.....
Now a Canadian politician comes forward saying he was detained in China and they went through his government phone. He also said he was intimidated by Chinese officials in Canada with the aim of keeping him quite on Tiananamen Square events. He says he's not the only one...
Meanwhile in Australia media reported a man who said he was offered money to run in that country's election was found dead in a motel room in March of an apparent prescription drug overdose. Another man has come forward saying he was a spy for China and is offering up goodies.
Back here in Canada last week our Minister of Defence downplayed concerns about China's activities in Canada and turned the conversation back to trade and "rules based" international order. That would be rules like the ones on the South China Sea... etc. China ignores.
None of these events should surprise Canadian officials, so the real cherry on top of it all here is that Richard Lee said he sent a letter to the Feds in January telling him about all the activities by Chinese officials in Canada and NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE.
Canada's China policy is blowing up in its face and yet our leaders are trying to hang on for dear life despite repeated failure. We have to start asking why....
