Now that I see @ClientEyeApp being mentioned locally, I'm kicking myself for not pushing harder one year ago, when they were in their infancy, and I came to them with concerns about the recklessness and danger in having a blacklist that clients can use to look themselves up on.
I'm going to make it simple. If you're contributing to the @ClientEyeApp list, you're a danger to the entire community and should be treated as such.
It's not a blacklist, it's a way for abusers and time wasters to keep tabs on when it's time to buy a new phone. Trusting a client facing black list puts you in danger. Contributing to a client facing blacklist puts every other provider who's had a bad experience in danger.
What happens when the guy who wasted your time is a member of an organized crime group? How will he respond to being on a list that his wife can see? What happens when he guesses wrong about who put him on the list?
Apps like client eye are worse than not screening. They give you a false sense of safety, and expose other workers to retaliation from listed clients.
Please share this. Please let people know. We can't let this app gain a foothold in North America. It's going to undo years of work by local advocates and activists.
If this is how they respond to a sex worker infosec specialist pointing out gaping security holes, I think it speaks for itself.
