I think ultimately the league HAS to re-orbit away from the title being the only thing that matters. If you make the AFC championship game, you had a great year. Final Four? Same deal. 10 MLB playoff appearances? What a franchise.

Honestly, it might have been better for the league LONG TERM if Jordan hadn’t built a new model. If after Bird-Magic/Celtics-Lakers we had the 90’s of lower growth but more parity, with Robinson, Duncan, Payton/Kemp/Stocton-Malone/Pacers/Knicks all getting titles?
