I had the *funnest* couple of days at work this week. So much so that I now have an enthusiasm hangover
.
Genuinely me right now:

Genuinely me right now:
But it also made me think a lot about research culture and mentorship. I had a lot of time to sit, think and reflect and learn. So here’s some things I think we need to remember:
Mentorship is super important. Pass on your knowledge and skills to those around you and help others to flourish in the same way that your mentors did for you.
We all have different journeys in life and no one path is the right one. Skillsets can be developed in so many different ways.
Call out people if they’re doing wrong. Show the younger (and current) generations that you’re using your power for good. Be a good ally. Be inclusive. Make sure things are equitable. And remember diverse environments are the best ones and produce better outcomes.
Lastly, be kind to others around you. Though some competition is healthy, constantly being competitive and trying to outdo others is tiring. We can all do better things and have better research environments if we all work together :)
Happy Friday everybody :)
