How? Harnessing my mind. The male mind works a specific way and you must understand it to use it.

The male brain works like a filing cabinet where you can access one file at a time.
Just one.
Can’t break out of your thought spiral? Can’t shift between mindsets? Unfocused when it comes time to create?
This is why. One file at a time.

Understand this and embrace it. This is why men can hyper-focus into a task. It’s a strength.
But it can lead to frustration when you don’t know how to use it. Learn to flip through your brain files by means of ritual, designated spaces, and exercise.

Rituals help us shift gears and put us into the correct headspace for the focused task.
When I come home I greet my family, disrobe from my work garments, put my work bag in one spot, and put on my author uniform.
Clothes, arrangements, and patterns for rituals for your mind.

Clothes, arrangements, and patterns for rituals for your mind.
Prayers, changing uniforms, washing your face, greeting your family, all function as rituals.
Design your rituals to shift your brain into a new pattern. “WE ARE DOING THIS NOW.”
Keep it up for 3 weeks as habits take that long to form. Once you do, you’ll hate breaking them.

Designated spaces are crucial. Your mind forms associations based on what you do in each area. Surf Facebook at your work desk long enough and your brain stops recognizing it as a work desk. Now it’s your lounging desk.
Keep your spaces sacrosanct. Don’t surf where you work.

Exercise helps reset the brain back to zero. Closes all the folders and gets you out of those dark or emotional places. Emotional hemisphere sucks the logical hemisphere dry for those emotion spikes, but exercise beats emotion. Jumping jacks, bursts of energy, hard stretching.
If you can’t find the energy to focus, do a burst of exercise until you feel your brain calming down. Get that flow state, that runners high, that calm mind.
Then throw in a ritual to shift you into the correct mindset. Go to zero, then head down the proper road.

Combine rituals, designated spaces, and exercise to flip back and forth in your folders and always be in the right mindset. If you can’t focus on work, rebuild these 3 areas to optimize your productivity.
