the only management sim with a realistic portrayal of capitalism was the railroad tycoon series; everything else since has been propaganda for business https://twitter.com/spidermantifa/status/1200163823862394885
there were lots of scenarios you could win purely via stock manipulation without ever laying a mile of track
(in fact some scenarios, especially those where the goal was to increase your personal net worth, were impossible to win without insider trading, stock buybacks, etc.)
management sims: "use your hard-earned profits to purchase plant and equipment, hire employees, and expand your business!"
railroad tycoon: "lmao short the shit out of this essential railroad line serving a million people and drive it out of business for personal gain"
management sims: "use your profits to raise wages and make workers happier and more productive!"
railroad tycoon: your personal salary depends on pleasing investors. STOCK BUYBACKS. STOCK BUYBACKS. STOCK BUYBACKS
management sims: buy company stocks! takeover and merge with your competition!
RRT: there are 17 competing railroads on this map and I own exactly 51% of all of them, and oh by the way only one has any debt somehow (but boy is there a lot of it!)
oh don't forget you could just buy every industry on the map and have a complete vertically-integrated monopoly
