This whole conversation about Twitter not selling books is wild because what would my career be without social media and Twitter in particular?
Twitter and social media have played a huge role in letting people know what I write and why I write it. It& #39;s been one of the biggest ways I& #39;ve done advocacy and reached out to other trans people both in and outside of the industry.
Even when I used to write a lot of blog posts I& #39;d promote them via social media. Twitter is also how I& #39;ve met industry people, authors, editors, publishers. I& #39;ve been offered writing, publishing, and speaking opportunities because of it.
I have also met people with much bigger followings than me who have read my books and go on to recommend them to others. That& #39;s how I make the vast majority of my sales.
I am a marginalized author who writes about one of the least represented marginalized groups in romance and for the entirety of my career I& #39;ve had next to no marketing money put into my books. Social media is all I have.
So all the books I& #39;ve sold? Everyone who knows my name? Every time my books get reviews, bought by a library, nominated for an award, mentioned in an article, nine times out of ten it& #39;s because of Twitter.
