This is a real worrying situation & hence risk suggesting a few points. Of course you can dismiss me for my lack of knowledge and expertise. But anyway

1. Economic activity is just one of ways in which a society expresses.

2. An anxious society is not a happily spending society. Unless the @HMOIndia cooperates @FinMinIndia can’t do much. Remove the anxiety and fear from the citizens. @nsitharaman must request @AmitShah to roll back NRC/CAB etc. and let the citizens breathe normal for a while.

3. @narendramodi & @BJP4India has to decide to prioritise economic well being over the cultural agenda for a while.

3/n
4. Don’t give any hard targets or hard directions to economy. Be it Renewable Energy, Digital Economy and Cashless stuff, Plastic free India, Electric Vehicles etc. Just let the economy be for a few months. Our markets are not so dynamic to adapt to such directions.

5. Don’t be too obsessed with fiscal deficit guidance. You screwed up. But it is ok. We are in difficult times. Don’t worry about fiscal deficit & start selling PSUs because there’s no demand for private investment. So no concern of a crowding out. Just spend. Spend rural.

6. Let the agricultural prices rise. I know it affects the urban middle class. But the incremental spending has to come from rural areas. And rural wage growth has been abysmal. Don’t be too obsessed with inflation either as long as it is within the band. Create demand.

7. Stop tinkering with GST. Announce that invoice matching won’t be introduced for the next 3 years. Yes there will be tax leakages. But @FinMinIndia has to understand tax collection is just a byproduct of economic activity. Do not make it the end.

7/n
8. Do not do the so called ‘reforms’ in panic and without deliberations. They are not reforms but just agenda points for a few corporates & think tanks. Introduce them only after proper deliberations. Else it will backfire. Economy is not a world bank ranking competition

9. Understand that stifling dissent means suffocating innovation. Unlike whatever that @NITIAayog people tell you, Government need not innovate this much. You can relax. Let the entrepreneurs innovate. You don’t have to be better than them. Just facilitate. And stay away.

9/n
10. Apologise to Kashmiris for whatever you have done.

Apologise to Indians for ruining the moral fabric of our nation.

Repent & pray.

Economy is just one thing. This nation now needs a lot of healing.
