But perhaps the most important question Sondland never had to answer isn't about the "no quid pro quo" call at all, but about his call(s) with Pres. Zelensky immediately thereafter.

In his testimony, Sondland claimed to have no memory at all about what he and Zelensky discussed.
But Sondland did tell Bill Taylor about his "multiple convos" with Trump and Zelensky on Sept 7-8.

And according Taylor, Sondland's conversations with Zelensky ended with Zelensky agreeing to do the exact thing Trump had demanded Zelensky do on the "no quid pro quo" call.
Here's what we know: (1) Sondland called Trump and asked, "What do you want from Ukraine?"; (2) Sondland called Zelensky; and (3) during his call w/ Sondland, Zelensky agreed to do what Trump wanted.

Sondland never testified to what he told Zelensky. But there's no mystery here.
