Personal opinion: my theory of this election has always been that the Democrats can win if they make it a referendum on Trump but could lose if they make it a choice election w/ a very liberal candidate like Warren or Sanders or nominate someone who's not...1/
ready to be POTUS, like Buttigieg. And they need someone to prosecute the case against Trump if they want to win who can also recreate the Obama coalition & bring out strong turnout of African-American, Latinx, AAPI, & other voters....2/
& they need a charismatic candidate who can boost that turnout & make the case against Trump if they want to win. That's still my theory of this election & it's always led me to support @KamalaHarris & does to this day. But I don't want my choice to sound simply instrumental. 3/
Like I was looking for some stock figure to check all those boxes & @KamalaHarris was somehow that & thus I picked the candidate who checked those boxes. Because that's not the case. I've been to several of her events here in SC & I've interacted w/ her on the trail...4/
Here's what you need to know about @KamalaHarris. She's working this state like no other candidate. 15 trips, 50 events, going to places no candidate's gone to before. & I sincerely feel that if the media valued Black voters more & Black women in particular, we'd be seeing...5/
more stories about this. The media's coverage of her has been very biased, in part because the media has problems covering the presidential candidacy of a woman of color. 6/
She's drawing large & diverse crowds here in SC. No candidate other than Biden is doing that. & her crowds are more diverse than his. She's also strong on the stump & as I've said before, I've never met a candidate who's as good one-on-one w/ voters as @KamalaHarris is. 7/
A personal note I've mentioned before...my mom passed away this summer & I mentioned that in passing to @KamalaHarris when I thanked her for always honoring her mom on the campaign trail. Unprompted, @KamalaHarris had several conversations w/ me...8/
in which she gave me advice on the grieving process. It's been really helpful. She followed up on this at a subsequent event. She's incredibly kind not just to me but also to other voters at her events. We could use that kind of kindness in a president. 9/
So, if like me, you think Democrats need these attributes in a nominee & we need them in a president & that Black women need to be respected & listened to in this election & in this country, as a voter I encourage you to make a donation to @KamalaHarris: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/kdh-social-november-challenge
