A THREAD TO THE #YANGGANG: On The Importance and Effectiveness of Canvassing RIGHT NOW. (Please Retweet)

SUMMARY: It may FEEL like the deck is stacked against us, but if we know how to play, and we execute, the opposite is actually true. This election is ours to lose.

It's no secret that the mainstream media is very much against us. We may FEEL powerful when we trend hashtags, but don't kid yourselves: The MSM is not going to get on board with this campaign. The MSM are data purveyors, and Yang wants you to control your data.

In fact, the more you let the lack of mainstream media coverage deflate you, the more you play right into their hands. They WANT you to throw in the towel. They WANT you complacent. They WANT you dependent. That's PRECISELY how they control the narrative.

We also need to stop kidding ourselves about using social media to spread the word on Yang. The fact is, your social media is a self-reinforcing, algorithmic echo-chamber. #YangGang twitter is a good resource for replenishing your energy, collaborating, and learning.

But it's a TERRIBLE place for reaching new people or converting others. I'm not saying it CAN'T happen here, just that the odds get lower the more Yang becomes a known quantity in this space. Most of the politically-engaged on Twitter are already backing a candidate.

This is why face-to-face canvassing is our single, most powerful weapon in this battle. It overcomes MSM and social media. And I'm telling you, if we use this weapon well, there will be NO STOPPING US. Why? Because our message is uniquely situated to benefit from this medium.

Engaging face-to-face accomplishes more because people's brains actually respond differently when you're in front of them, as opposed to behind a screen. People are less defensive and less dismissive. They see you as more human, and your commonalities are undeniable.

The Freedom Dividend is also a special kind of policy to talk about because it's just so bombastic that it gets people out of their usual political brain loops. The idea of $1,000 a month is SO TANGIBLE that people get out of their neurological ruts. But tell them IN PERSON!

After many canvassing sessions, it's obvious that THE most important people who SHOULD know about Yang still don't know who he is. I've Yanged about 150 people in low-income, high-density neighborhoods in NC and SC. Out of those 150 people, ONLY TWO knew who @AndrewYang was!

Again, it's easy to be discouraged by this reality, blaming it on the #MSM; however, it's also an EXTRAORDINARY opportunity that we've been handed. As an unknown quantity out there, Yang has no ceiling, and the media won't have time to pin him down and build that ceiling.

The optimal time to canvass is RIGHT NOW. Yang is a legitimate 5th in the polls, having built up steadily, and the Christmas holiday is the ultimate opportunity for family discussions, where politics will be a HUGE topic at nearly every American family table.

So why is deck ACTUALLY stacked in our favor? Because no other has this incredible combination of advantages:

(a) Offering transformative policies;
(b) Is largely undiscovered and untarnished; and
(c) Boasts maximal politically-diverse appeal.

The secret ingredient is YOU.

The iron will never be as hot as it is right now. Every seed you plant has a decent chance at growing exponentially into a huge, unshakeable tree of support for our cause in the primaries. GET OUT THERE! And if you are already getting out there, BRAG ABOUT IT!

If you see somebody touting their canvassing efforts, support them! We already have boots on the ground in Iowa, and will have more, thanks to the likes of @ShaveWithTully @MichaelForYang and @scott__santos. They are living and bleeding this cause. Follow them and thank them!
