Legislative makes the laws while police and courts are meant to enforce

We have lots of laws for almost every crime but how many criminals get away scot free due to non enforcement is a shame
Police don't file FIR
Isn't that a right of every citizen. I know of several cases where citizens are dissuaded from doing so. But really that tantamounts to hiding a crime

If a crime is not registered how will a victim get justice
Once that happens chargesheeting takes another chunk of time. Even if it goes to court, there is this "Tarikh pe Tarikh" which ensures that cases are delayed. Sometimes if alleged culprit is in custody, there have been instance where their time in jail is more than their sentence
If proven guilty they would have faced x months in jail but they end up being jailed for much longer

This is also travesty of justice
Another opposite happening is for heinous crimes like rape, murder, terror etc

We have laws in place for Rape. Today there have been at least a couple of very blood curdling rape and murder crimes

Even Nirbhaya was one such

These deserve immediate action
Only immediate action will help assuage feelings of the victims families to whatever extent possible

It's really shameful that courts will take their own sweet time to deliver judgements on such crimes

Which brings us to another pertinent question
Why are courts not answerable to anyone?

Why is there no effort to increase court capacities to expedite justice delivery

Isn't Justice Delayed amount to Justice Denied

Why is govt not creating more benches or is that also a decision to be taken by respective CJs
This delay ensures that encourages criminals to continue criminal activity.

So delay not only causes unnecessary agony/trauma to victims and family but also encourages more crime

Hence the topmost priority needs to be given to delivery of justice
Only that would create a fear of the law and discourage criminal tendencies

Also crime coverage by media is selective and is aimed at creating a specific narrative

We need to start treating any crime as a crime and not selectively based on religious identity of perpetrators
Another equally importantaspect is upbringing which i will cover in a separate thread

But enforcement of justice is imperative and quick disposal of cases is the first step

Courts need to be answerable for their delays
