Here’s 2 main reasons why I support @PeteButtigieg’s plan for college affordability

/ No. 1- I asked my colleague who is a dietitian, why do you charge a (small) fee for your patients? She says, if people pay, they are more invested and committed to her advice. https://twitter.com/alxthomp/status/1200227721923760130
/ Same applies to college tuition. Imagine if college was free for everyone. There won’t be any educational accountability. People would be free to drop out. I believe in free tuition for those who REALLY need it - low socioeconomic status and are passionate about
/ higher education. Not some random person who’s like ‘yeah college parties!’ and then drops out, what a waste 🤦
/ No. 2- Public schools (basic education), transportation, libraries, roads, airports exist because they are ESSENTIAL in our lives. Public colleges are essential for CERTAIN professions, but NOT all. It’s a CHOICE people make with certain career aspirations. How about those
/ Americans who choose NOT to go to college? Instead of paying college tuition for the children of millionaires & billionaires, how about we use that money to subsidize trade schools, apprenticeships, or first time entrepreneurs? Or those who stay home to be caretakers?
/ @PeteButtigieg always gets it. Because he is just sensible. We need more of that in Washington. Seriously.
