It is a sign that we are finally waking up to the fact that something now really has to be done. There are many radical policies for governments to enact and lifestyle changes for the whole of society to embrace. 2/6
Yes, some of us are in a better position to make those changes and yes, we are all hypocrites in one way or another and yes, not using plastic straws will not have the same impact as investing in a green pension. But... there are thousands of changes we can all make. 3/6
Changing how we name what we're doing to our planet won't solve the problem. Nor will just talking about it. But it is a necessary start. Of course we will use different terms depending on context. But acknowledging the scale and urgency is a vital step towards real action. 4/6
Oh, and let's not get into the 'what about China and India?' excuses. The UK has to show the world the way to go. After all, looking back over history, we as a nation/empire have probably cumulatively contributed most to the problem. 5/6
